Thinking of You Card

Hi all,

Today's card is a fun style that I like to make every now and then with washi tape.   I took a variety of washi tapes and started adding them to a plain white card (5 x 6 1/2).  I didn't weave them.  I just added and overlapped them.

Items:
  • Variety of washi tape
  • Fancy Foils Steampunk by Hot off the Press
  • Thinking of You stamp by Hampton Arts
  • Black StazOn Ink
  • Green jewels and pearls (Bo Bunny)
  • Gold Paint Pen
The balloon is from Hot Off the Press and they are called Foiled Fancies.  They are similar to Desden scrap or German foil scrap but are much more sturdy.  These are paper but are a sturdy 110lb+ so you can color them, sand them and so on. They have a silver core so you can get a lot of different effects from them.
(The picture above doesn't show the gold very well.  It looks washed out but it is a rich gold color.)

I stamped the sentiment onto some collage paper and then cut it out and edged it in gold.

A Trip to Paris Card

Hi everyone and Happy Tuesday to you!  I hope you all have a great week!

Today's card is a longer size than I usually work in.  Its 4 /4 x 8 inches long.

Items used:
  • Martha Stewart Deep Border punch
  • Gold Glossy card
  • Dark brown card for card base
  • Washi Tape (travel theme)
  • Patterned papers (map theme) from Hobby Lobby
  • Wood Clock embellishment (Bo Bunny)
  • Distress Ink in Mermaid Lagoon (to color clock)

  • Reproduction of a Paris post card
  • Gold word Dazzles Hot off the Press

I was having a retail therapy session at Hobby Lobby and stumbled onto this pad of patterned paper that was ALL MAPS.  Its offered in 12 x 12 and in the smaller index card size.  The maps are colored and sepia and browns, basically all different colors.  I love to use maps in my cards so you can guess that I bought these (and they were 50% off too !).

The card was layered with the map papers and the seams were covered with the washi tape.

I punched an extra strip of dark brown card with the border design and used that as part of my layers.

Be Fearlessly Authentic

Hi all!

Another collage card for you!

Items used:
  • Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Background paper (right) Anna Griffin
  • Background vellum left - www.paperandmore.com (this is a coated vellum on one side with a purple blue sheen)
  • Picture - Idea Ology
  • Jewel Brads (my stash - they are old)
  • frame that the picture sits on (Graphic 45 Journal Notes)
  • Ribbon comes from Really Reasonable Ribbon - This online site has many colors of the diamond design ribbon above. Its lovely to work with!
  • Distress Stain in Tarnished Brass
When I look at the old fashioned pictures that are so popular nowadays to use in crafts, I wonder who they were and what they were thinking the day they got their picture taken.  This woman is so beautiful and reminds me of my older sister.  The picture makes a great addition to a card.

You can get a better look at the purple vellum I used below.

Beware Spirits

Don't you love how this card turned out?  I used the new Graphic 45 Halloween line Rare Oddities on this card.

Also:
  • Halloween washi or tissue tape from Idea Ology
    • I really love the border this makes.
  • Orange ribbon with a plaid embossing from Really Reasonable Ribbon
  • Chit Chat word strips (Occasions - Idea Ology)
  • The pumpkin and the spider charm are also releases for this year from Idea Ology
  • I have a die that cuts a full A2 size but I cut it in half to make the gold foil chevron piece
  • The paper I used for the flourish on the pumpkin is called Gold Ripple and its a specialty card stock from Hot Off the Press
    • I really like the way this goes with the pumpkin.  It looks like gold vines and adds extra texture to the card overall.

Autumn Owl

Today's card uses a too cute owl die by Frantic Stamper.  Owls are so popular and Frantic Stamper has a set of two plus a branch.
I started out with an ivory card base.  I used the Dazzling Diamond Border to create a border design on the bottom front of my card.
To create my card I used some green pattern paper from Basic Grey.  I glued this to my card front just above the diamond border.  I cut out two sets of branches, one in dark brown card stock and one in kraft color card stock.  I layered the branches with the dark brown in back to create some dimension and glued them in place. I added two maple leaves that were cut from the Leaf Windows. These were cut in brown fireworks card stock.  I added these to the branches using foam tape.  I added my little owl so that one of the green stripes from the patterned paper showed through the eyes to give him eye lids.

I created my tag using the largest die from the Flag Trio.  I cut this from the brown fireworks card stock.  I had some "wood" paper and used this to die cut the word AUTUMN. I also used it to mat the flag.  I added some brown ink to the edges of my word then I attached the word Autumn to the flag using foam tape. I also foam taped the entire sentiment to my card. I added some tiny beige pearls to the "t".

For finishing touches I added some Washi Tape and a Burgundy ribbon.

For the inside of my card I added Burgundy suede paper at the bottom of my card.  This really showed off the diamond border on the front.

I hope you enjoyed today's card.  Thanks for stopping by!

Handmade Beauty

Today's card uses a handmade piece of paper that was a gift from my older sister. I made two of the same card and sent one to her.  I love the large flowers and the overall mauve and blue colors outlined in gold.

I didn't want to add too much embellishments because I didn't want to cover up my handmade paper. So, I opted for a couple large paper flowers and some embossed ribbon I had lying around.

Below is a great picture of the embossed ribbon.  This is a metallic wrapping ribbon I bought.  It was nothing expensive or exotic.  In fact, this ribbon is over 15 years old!  Try embossing folders on your ribbons.  You will be surprised how well the ribbon takes embossing and how pretty the results are!  I am sure that you have a Christmas ribbons stash!

The two thin gold lines (one on either side of the ribbon) are actually washi tape.  It's new from Little B Decorative Tapes.  They are FOILED and quite beautiful.  If you buy the thin ones, you get two rolls. And that's a lot.  The one I used on my card is called Gold Grosgrain.

Have fun!

ATC- Time and Space

I love ATCs.  They are a compact little piece of art!  "Officially" an ATC is 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches (there are also other sizes like "inchies" too.)
I started by cutting a piece of white smooth card stock to the "official" size. I had some stamps with geometric patterns and chose one with squares.  I stamped this using Staz-On black.  Then I stamped a small clock and a postcard image with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink.  I added some red Stickles glitter glue to a few squares, added some tissue tape and finally added a small post card which I covered in Glossy Accents.  I edged my ATC with Vintage Photo.

Happy Father's Day Card

Don't you just love it when the stars align and everything comes together to make a beautiful card?  This was that card for me last night.  I wish that all of my cards would come together so easily but sometimes I really struggle.

Today's card is a pretty one using Prima flowers in burlap, some unusually colored leaves, some lace and a homemade banner at the top.  I even used some washi tape accents at the top and bottom.  I also put inside my card.

Don't you just love the leaf colors? I decided to start using different colors.  I saw that Prima had some different ones and I thought they were just so cool!  They really go well with my flower which a little on the drab side.

I love how my label turned out.  I used the same paper (K and Company) as I did for the mat on the card base.  I matted it on white and cut some white for the center and then stamped in black.  Do you like this tiny saying?  I found a set of Tiny Sayings stamps at Hot Off the Press (Paper wishes.com). I'm always looking for a great set of sayings stamps with interesting fonts and styles that I can use on small tags.

I added some lace that I've had lying around for a while (I won't admit how long!).  Take another look at my tag.   added one piece to it also.

Hope you enjoy this card and make some beauties of your own!

Lis

PS: I bet you may wonder why I've not made any Mother's Day cards.  My mom passed away a few years ago. It's still so hard to get by during any holiday.  I don't have any family of my own and I'm not married so its double hard.  I miss her. We didn't always get along or agree on everything but she was there for me.  She taught me the value of education.  She got a nursing degree and a four year degree in her 50's.  I carry a picture of her and me when I graduated college that I look at once in a while.  She was an amazing person.

Washi and Paper Tole Christmas Card

Today's card uses some Christmas washi tape to create a background for some paper tole (the present).

I've noticed that washi tapes can be oriented with a white background or an ivory background (at least the ones I have), so I use them with either an ivory or white card base.  (I used white card for the card today.)

I decided to do plain stripes and chose a few designs and repeated them until I filled up the card base.  I was going to trim the edges but decided to fold the ends over which made a nicer finish.

I added some gold glitter glue to my present's ribbon (gotta have some sparkle!).

Happy Birthday Card

I am in the habit of starting cards and then not finishing them for a while.  So I have this pile of half finished cards that I decided to work on.

The base card is white card stock which is covered in washi tape in a rooster pattern (I picked this up at Michaels.)  I added a stamped image of an old bike in black on a blue checkerboard,  backed on yellow.

Close Up!

I added a little square of blue and yellow with cute gold hearts in the lower right corner and a red bow.

See you again!

Medieval

I have this cling stamp of old medieval playing cards. I've been working on a card with it for some time now (sometimes my muse takes a vacation!)

Close Up!

I love adding leaf ribbon to my card.  It's one of my favorite ribbons. (gold and silver!! And white - to color with!!)
Click HERE if you only want to see the Leaf Trim.

Click HERE if you want to see the full range of ribbon that Frantic stamper carries from May Arts (If you are a ribbon person, you probably need a friend to help tear you away from the computer...)

I added a few pink paper flowers to my vine for additional detail. And I added washi tape around th edges (the beige music pattern).

I added a brass heart charm.

I stamped and embossed in gold and then colored some of the images with Distress Markers.

I hope you enjoyed my card - stop by again!

Sally

Hi!  Today's card is another that I made for my sister (I really did a bad thing so I needed more than one card to apologize...!)

I wanted to do something unexpected today.  I started with shiny metallic and modern card stock and made a 4 x 10 card.  My card base was plain white card stock.  I added washi tape and buttons and finished off with a metal charm.

Close Up!

Here you can see the collage I made with the washi tape and buttons.

I attached the charm with a pop dot.  To make the charm I printed the image onto sticky back canvas (Claudine Hellmuth).  I cut out the image and added it to the metal charm and covered with an epoxy sticker.  I added one little white gem to the lower corner.  It doesn't show very well in these pictures but you can clearly see the texture of the canvas on the charm which I like.

Thanks and stop by again soon!

Love Banner

Hi everyone! Happy whatever day you are in!

Today's card is a simple card using washi tape as banners. (To get the perfect cut, I folded the non sticky sides together and cut a "v".)

My base card is a mauve cardstock from Kelly Paper (You should try them sometime.  You'd be surprised as what you can find there.)  I added a mat of K&Company patterned paper outlined in silver.

I added the washi tape banners to the left. (Can you believe these are from Michaels?)  The banner on top of everything is from BoBunny.  It was a sticker that I cut out. So cute!

I used two ribbons on my card. The first one was a black striped ribbon which I laid flat and attached with glue dots.  I added an ivory ribbon with a bow on top of it.

Thanks and see you again next week!

Elegant lady in Washi Card

As you know, washi tape continues to be hot.  Personally I LOVE it!

The card has two layers of washi tape.
  • The first layer I used different patterned colored tapes on a mat.  For my second layer I used a black and white translucent tape.
  • I added the torn washi paper in the middle.
  • I added a punched circle of light blue stardream paper behind the head of the woman because the pattern was swallowing her up.
The Lady:
  • I stamped the lady onto white cardstock in StazOn black. (Take a look at Fran's own stamps - www.franticstamper.com - she has a number of Erte images.)
  • I colored in Spectrum Noire
  • Then I carefully cut out the image and attached it to my card with mounting tape.

Close Up!

I love Erte (accent on the last "e").  He was a French artist.  Once you are familiar with his work, you will recognize the style.  It's unique.

I added the pink pearls using a Viva Decor paint pen.

You can really see the two layers of washi tape.

I hope that you are inspired to try two layers of washi on your next card!

Washi Tape Christmas Cards

I went by Michael's the other day and they had some washi tapes for sale (50% off I think it was). Anyway I saw this really nice red plaid and got a roll.  Here's what I did with it!

The card has thrree rows of plaid, one of gold at the bottom and a different patterned tape in the middle.  The top row of plaid washi has been cut to fit the card ( I added it and just trimmed off the excess.).

The JOY is from a Martha Stewart punch.  I punched it in red foil paper and trimmed the bottom edge to 1/8 inch.

Ornaments Card

I just recently got this Dazzles ornament sticker pack.  It gives you three colors (gold, red and mat green) of the same ornaments. You pick and choose which pieces of what colors you want and put together the ornaments in different colors.  Pretty nifty.

I decided to emboss my card and then added some torn paper.  I also added the green washi tape accent to the binding of my card.

Close Up!

I love the script style of these stickers.

These hanging chain stickers come with the pack.  If you look closely yo can see some silver dots along the chain.  So pretty!

See you tomorrow!
