CATS! a Card

 CATS! a Card

Hello Dear Friends,

I love all animals, but I have a special place in my heart for cats.
I collect various cat dies. I think seeing them brings me back to the kitties I've had over the years.  I don't have any cats right now. The dies I used below are from Paper Wishes, Spellbinders, Art Impressions and Amazon.

This card is a standard A2 size card made with white cardstock and layered with vellum with a rose pattern.

I love color block dies because I think that collage works well with them.  While getting my die I stumbled over my cat dies and had this card idea. I was envisioning layering the outline but once I saw the die cut (1/16 inch wide) I changed my mind LOL!
I used one die cut and adhered it with glue to the card.
I cut the cats from a copper mat mirror card. All were adhered with foam squares. I decided to cut one of them from a holographic card instead.
I added Chitchat words (Tim Holtz) and used alphabet stickers to spell out CAT.
The cats are die cut from a copper mat mirror card.

Le Chat Noir

I love the art-poster type rubber stamps. Frantic Stamper has a really nice collection of them.  I have one called Chat Noir (black cat) that I wanted to use on a card.  Instead of stamping my image in black ink, I used VersaMark and white embossing powder on a dark purple card stock.  The white embossing powder was able to capture ev ery little detail of my stamp, even the tiny writing!  I colored the cat with Distress Stickles Glitter in Walnut Stain.
I mounted my image on black suede paper and attached to my card base.

Cat Willow Card

Cat Willow Card
by Lis Whiting

I used two stamped and colored cat willows for my card. Both were matted to dark brown card stock. To accommodate both stamped images I used a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch sized card. I used some very lovely Authentique papers (collections listed below).  I punched a border for the bottom of my card and decorated it with red crystals.

I punched a leafy vine out of green foiled cardstock and used that as decoration at the top of my card.  I added a butterfly as a final touch.  This tamp would look good cropped to a square and tiled on a card also!

Tarot Cats Card

Tarot Cats - a Card
by Lis Whiting

I really like how this card came out.  I kind of worked backwards to get the size of the card right, starting with my tarot cats.  I backed them in different colors of foiled card stock.  Then I chose a pretty royal purple (shows that you can use Christmas papers year round!).  I wanted to do something with the stars so I used silver glitter paper.  I backed it all on black card stock.  I added a strip in the middle to place my tarot cats on.  I decorated the entire card in crystals and pearls, including my elegant cats.  I made several stampings of my tarot cats so that I can make a couple more different cards.  This was a lot of fun to make! Here are some close ups!
