A Welcome Back with a Thank You Card!

 Hi everyone,  

I have been away awhile.  I am going to start posting again! Yea!

THANK YOU CARD

This card was made with the following supplies:

• Papers
• Pearlescent copper, yellow
• Gold Mirror card
• Champagne Glitter card
• Shades of Red (3) cardstock (standard)
• Glue, Sticky Roll or other adhesive similar to Xyron, and foam squares
• Spellbinders ColorBlock Mini Die Set (Mini Crosses)
• Spellbinders (spellbinderspaperarts.com)
• Spellbinders Stacked Decorative Edges (THANK YOU sentiment)
• Spellbinders (spellbinderspaperarts.com)
• Paper Trimmer, scissors, die cutting machine, embossing folder

These are such fun dies. There are two dies. One is a die to cut the mat (onto which you adhere the design), and the "design" die. This second die cuts all the nested pieces.

1. I cut each paper with the design die four times to get my pieces. 

2. I cut the mat die out of red. (I didn't use white as I thought the background might show.)

3. I chose different colors for each piece I was going to create.  It helps to have them chosen and laid out in order before beginning to adhere the pieces to the base.  I used glue but I will probably use adhesive next time to make it a cleaner process.

4. I assembled my card:

• I cut the yellow cardstock to 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches.
• I cut the copper cardstock to 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches. I embossed these with an embossing folder.
• I cut one additional piece of yellow cardstock to 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches, embossed it and set it aside.

I adhered the copper card strips to form a square. Then I cut from the outer corner to the inner corner to make my corners mitered. I adhered these to my card, leaving a 1/8 inch border around my card base.

I adhered the smaller yellow card to the center of my card and on top of the copper card.

I positioned nine of my completed pieces in the center of my card. I carefully removed the first piece and added glue, then re-adhered it to my card.  I did the same with all the pieces.

I cut my sentiment from copper card and cut a background layer from gold mirror card.  I added these to the center of my card with foam squares. I added a yellow acrylic gem to either end.

Hi everyone!

I purchased the Heartfelt Under the Sea collection with the dies and stamps.  Its SO pretty!  I used watercolors to color my stamped items and then die cut them.

I didn't have any seaweed so I used some die cut leaves. I think they came out ok.

Sophisticated...a card

I received an email from May Arts inviting me to ask for a sampler, so I did. This is one of the ribbons they sent me.  I'm already a fan of May Arts - I love their ribbons.  This is actually one ribbon with the velvet brown already fused to the lace.

Tis is a closer look at the frame.  Its mde of wood and in this case is covered with paper on one side.

Pink Believe in Yourself Card

Hi everyone!

It's funny how I start with one plan to make a card and end up making something different. Does that ever happen to you?  I had wanted to make an Easter card (that's how long it's been that this card has been under construction). 

Items used:

• White shimmer paper (already came embossed with wavy lines)
• Anna Griffin patterned paper, sentiment & die cut
• Pink shimmer adorable scorable card (Hunkydory)
• Sizzix embossing folder
• Lime green glitter tape
• after I added the glitter tape, it was very bright so I added the pearl string over top of it.  It still let the green show through, just not quite so much!
• pearl ribbon
• iridescent sequins

I like using the sequins, they give the card a little sparkle and interest.

These  are good pictures of the frame die cut detail.  Its difficult to see but there is embossing with the use of the die.

Happy Valentine's Day Card

Hope your weekend was great!  Today I have a Valentine's card that I made for you.

This card started where I work.  One of the supervisors there brought in these red and pink hert shaped doilies and we all took one to decorate and post on a board.  So, I made a card out of mine (yes, I took it home first!)

I really enjoyed using Tim Holtz new Distress Glitter.  It has a beautiful antique-y color and sparkles A LOT!  I cut out my words onto pink card.  Then I used a liquid glue on the front to attach the glitter.

I put some glitter on the loops of the paper flower collage.  I added some mahogany glitter glue - although I don't know why.  It looks pretty good.

You can get a good view of the satin foiled card and shimmer card I used to mat my card.  I love using foiled card because it picks up the embossing swell.

Love You Card with embossed satin card stock

Hi everyone,

I was going to use this card for Christmas but I never quite got to it.  So,  here it is for Valentine's Day in a non traditional green and gold.

• green card for card base

The satin card really picks up the embossing.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  There are no cracks or tears either.  The color is a very pastel gold.

Sendng Encouragement

Items used:

This was another simple card to make.  I used a striped piece of the patterned paper on the left side of my card. Usually I would use a ribbon to cover the seam but decided to emboss a piece of gold glossy and then cut a 1/4 inch piece and used that instead.  Then just added a bow.

Wicked!

I am a fan of Edgar Allen Poe's stories and poems.  When I saw that there was a brad with his portrait, I had to have it and use it in a card. 
I decided to do a collage card for Halloween.

Celebrate the Little Things

 

This is a 6 x 6 card - white card base.  The technique I am using is a heart stencil with glitter texture paste for the hearts.  After I let it dry overnight, I added the Dazzles red holographic round stickers and the borders.

I chose to use a light red vellum that I cut into three banners.  I used my Xyron to add the glue to the back and then added to my card.  I added the white saying (Hot off the Press) and a couple of white stars tat came with the package.

Liberty, a card

Hi everyone and Happy Independence Day to the USA!

I used the following items for my card:

• Frantic Stamper Precision Dies (Eagle, the word "America")
• Chevron design embossing folder
• Tim Holtz embossed cardstock - Seasonal Pack (pre embossed by company)
• Red plaid ribbon, red and whit rhinestones
• Card stock - white (for card base) and gold foil

I really like the font used for America.  Proud and strong.

I used the eagle die to cut a window in the embossed gold foil card.  I sanded the blue embossed card and then positioned it behind the open area so that some of the words showed through.

Time to Fly ....a Card

Hi everyone,

I love this card!

Techniques used:

1. Shaker Card
2. Stenciling with glitter paste

The shaker part of this card was easy to do.  I thought I was going to have trouble cutting the acetate to size and then adhering the foam tape without it showing.

Cutting the acetate:
I cut the clock using a Tim Holtz die.  I used the center die cut from the clock die as my template for the acetate.  I placed the circle on the acetate with temporary tape.  I cut a 1/8 inch border around the circle (cutting it larger than my template).  The acetate was a great fit and slightly large so tat I could glue the acetate to the clock with Gloss Accents.  I cut thin strips of mounting tape. Each strip was the circumference of the inner circle.  The strips were thin and I was ale to bend them around the circle without having to cut infinite pieces.  I made two layers.

So, I have the clock upside down on my craft mat.  I added the small hour hands to the inside and also poured in a little Diamond Dust.  I picked up my card and laid it down on top of the clock to seal it. (If you try this remember to be sure that your card is going to open the right way.  Keep track of your top and bottom!)

I added the large hand to the top of the acetate and added a blue jewel.

The stenciling for the background of my card was interesting. I haven't done a lot of stenciling.  I love the effect I get with the modeling pastes.

I wish that you could see this card in person.  I used a Cosmic Shimmer Texture Paste by Crafters Companion.  It is a glitter paste (not glue).  It is SO sparkly!  The one I used on this card is called Icicle Blue and is a blue interference color - which is why I chose black - because interference colors show very well on black.

I added the kite as an after thought.

Colored Plates - an embossed and inked card

Hi everyone!  Today's card is one that I've been planning on making for a while.  I have this embossing folder with a really pretty design in it.  I didn't really know what to do with it so Ive been looking at it for a while.  I decided to just make it the focal (I know that this is probably easy for many of you but for me this was hard to see the vision for some reason - could be that my muse took a vacation and didn't tell me! LOL)

 

I used some distress inks (wild honey, burgundy and black I think) to color in the edges.  Th paper is ivory cardstock.  The embossing is colored with Archival ink in black.

Here's a nice close up of the embossed image and coloring.  I added some water droplets for aging.  That always looks nice for the old fashioned look.

I also added some gold vellum.  (I have had this vellum for years and years. I'm so glad that I saved it!  I love the transluscent gold color.  It reminds me very much of the gold shimmer paper from the Stardream brand (is that Neenah? I can't remember)  Anyway I embossed the vellum and added it to the corner.

I added brown grosgrain ribbon and a little metal key with a garment pin at the top and also down the right side of the card (that covers a line). 
You will also notice that the background is done in canvas. Its a natural fiber. Its nice seeing these on the market now.
