Time to Celebrate!

Today's card is a fun little card I made for a birthday coming up.  I have this ric rac ribbon that 've been wanting to use.  I decided to take it out and see what I could do with it. I've tried making bows with it but they've been ugly failures. SO - if anyone out there knows how to make a good bow out of thin ric rac, give me a holler!

I got this set of clock stamps for about $2 which is a BARGAIN!  The large clock is missing one of the numbers.  I didn't notice and I can always hide it with a pearl or something.  Hey, almost free stamps are great!

I decided to just crisscross the ric rac on my card.  I stamped a white background with green clocks and added the calendar with the date accented with a pearl. Yes I did curl one of the corners of the calendar.

Home from Paris

I love the way that this card came out!  The card base is ivory cardstock BUT the mat is made of wood.  I bought this small box of thin slices of bare wood.  It's not veneer and I also forgot where I got these from.  I think I got them from a store that sells Japanese art products.

To start I used several distress stains (Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Tarnished Brass).  I also dropped water on each layer to create water spots.  It turned out pretty. You can see some f the stain in the picture below.  The picture doesn't show it but there is also a sheen on it from the Tarnished Bras which I applied last.

Do you like the little bag I made from vellum? You'll never guess how!  I cut it from an old Sizzix mini bag die I had.  I punched the little holes and added the bakers twine. Don't you just love how the little pearls came out?
I have a few CDs of vintage images.  I printed out the man and colored him using Distress Inks and  waterbrush.
All in all, a nice result.
