One More July Fourth Card!

 July Fourth Card

Hi everyone!

How is your day going? I hope well.  I post on scrapbook.com.  There have been some fabulous July 4 cards done which inspired me to create just one more card.  Here it is.

The dimensions and instructions can be found on my post from June 8th, 2022.

I love Paper Wishes (a dot com store). I've been buying from them for probably over a decade.  They sell sticker sets of sentiments (among other things).  That is where I got the sentiments below.

The eagle below is a Dresden die cut (also known as Victorian scrap). These die cuts are made from the original 200-year-old dies. I love collecting these and use them sparingly.  (Recently, I lost a whole folder of them.  I was so upset!)

One last look.

Thank you for stopping by,
Lis

Card with Handmade Background

 Card with Handmade Background

I had some scraps from die cutting squares and frames for some other cards I made.  I've been hanging on to these papers for over a year!  I decided to use them to create a background that I could use on my cards.

What you see above is the result.

How I did it:
  • I started with a blank white piece of cardstock (~200gsm).
  • I got all my squares together and, using liquid glue, adhered them one at a time to the cardstock.
    • These were from patterned paper waste.
  • I trimmed the edges of the cardstock and then used the trimmings to apply more papers to the card.
  • I used mica sprays in green and pink.
  • I used Silk (Sage, gold and Beach Ball) from Spellbinders.
    • This comes in a nail polish bottle with the brush in the lid. The colors also have mica in them.
    • I applied by shaking up the bottle, removing the lid with brush and randomly splattering the dye (?) on my background.
  • I realized afterwards it probably would have been good to use the sprays first and then adhere the papers.

I created my card:
  • I started with a standard A2 card base ( 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches) made with white cardstock.
  • I layered some blue cardstock onto my card.
  • I cut down the background to 4 x 5 1/4 inches and adhered to my card.
  • I added a focal and a sentiment, and added some Tonic Studios Crystal Drops in metallic pink.
    • I got the gold edged focal from a card kit I got from KanBan (gnome card kit - about a year ago.
