Halloween Cards! Black Bat Brand

Hi everyone!  It's that time of year for Halloween and Christmas cards. Yippee!

I love this time of year.  I grew up in upstate New York.  The trees turned to gold (my dad says that sometimes in the woods the atmosphere seemed to be gold too - I love that image.) and there was a crispness in the air.

Let the Holiday cardmaking begin!

My very first Halloween card of the season!  Black Bat Brand

I really love all the papers that the companies are coming out with this year.  Traditional orange and black, modern purple and green...lots of choices!  I especially like that the companies are making more of the 3x5 and 6x6 pad packs so that I can buy smaller sizes of the papers I love. Great!

The black jewels and the sparkly chandelier a la bat wings are courtesy of Michaels.

Close Up!

Come back again for another scary card!

Tea Bag Folding - Day 3 - The Love Knot Card

Hi everyone and welcome to day 3 of my tea bag folding weekend!

Today's card has the most difficult fold.  Love Knot Christmas Card

Really really close up!

This fold comes from a Design Originals Book on Teabag Folding called Sampler Tea-Bag. The author, Terri Pointer, published this fold.
  • I thought this fold would be great for Christmas cards!
  • The opening lends itself to adding photographs and would be perfect for scrapbooking also.  Remember that the bigger the squares, the bigger the final embellishment.  You can create any size to fit whatever project that you are doing.
  • I found that if I made 2 x 2 squares, I only needed 7 pieces to complete the circle.  If I use a larger square, I need 8 pieces.
  • Although this fold seems complicated at first, after you fold 2-3 it becomes very easy.
  • For this set of folds, there are folds where you start on one side of the paper and flip to the other side.
    • Pictures 4 to 5
    • Pictures 8 to 9
    • Pictures 11 to 12
  • I wanted to be precise so I scored my two diagonal folds. This made folding easier.

  • To put two pieces together do the following:

    • First look at one folded piece.  The front part lies on top of the back part. Where the front and back parts meet (about the middle of the piece and at the top) is the point you will use to guide you when you are joining two pieces together.  This is the point you slide one piece into another and stop.
    • Take two pieces. Place the large triangle (in your left hand) into the piece in your right hand UP TO THAT POINT I described above. [pic 13, 14]
    • There should be a small triangle from the left piece sticking up [pic 14]
    • Fold this piece over and behind the front of the right hand piece. [pic 15]
    • Glue that folded piece down with strong glue.
    • Keep adding each piece the same way until you complete the circle.
    • The last piece you added will be attached to the first piece in the same manner.
