Imagination, a collage card

Hi! C'est moi!  I'm back again to share another card with you!  Todays card is one that I've made for my sister (I owe her money so I figured I'd send it in a nice card).

This is a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch card.  I normally stick to A2 but I need to break out of my rut, don't you think?  I love collage cards. I like all the clustering of objects and the orderly disorder of it all.

There is a set of dies that I bought on sale at Frantic Stamper.  It was a great deal because they are all swirly dies!  I used one to die cut the gold glossy swirl on my card. You can see them HERE (Couture Creations) if you're interested.  I had a leftover metal word that I used on the side.  I also cut out a castle in gold glitter.

I used tarnished brass to color the key which is out of chipboard.

Finally I used some gold embellishment ink to dab on my card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Focal Butterfly Card

Hi everyone@!  Can you believe that I'm publishing two cards in one week?  I've been so busy at work that I've just not ad any energy to make any cards.  I don't want you to think I am complaining though.  I love healthcare and I do love my job. (PS: I was so busy that I didn't get my taxes done until April 16th.  First time in 40 years - can you believe it?)

Anyway, on to today's card - It's a layered card with patterned paper and some foiled papers.

The first card I took with a flash (by accident). I almost deleted it but decided to use it anyway.

This is the card without the flash. (I like the first picture because you can really see how shiny the gold foil paper is.)

The patterned papers are a mix of different companies.  I just chose some that appealed to me.

Here is a side view so that you can see the dimensionality of this card.  I used double thickness of mounting tape on one of the layers.  The butterfly is from K&Co I believe. It was nice because it had an acetate layer on the wings.

Here is a not as great as I would like it picture f the layering. I used:

Silver Linen Card stock (12x12) from Hot Off the Press
A gold with random pattern in it under the fleur de lis papers.  It was from a small sample pack of specialty papers I got long ago.  Can you tell that I'm going through my too big stash?

Ok that's it for now.  I'm working on some other stamped and colored cards and will hopefully finished with them this week so that I can share them with you.

Have a good week~! Lis

Colored Plates - an embossed and inked card

Hi everyone!  Today's card is one that I've been planning on making for a while.  I have this embossing folder with a really pretty design in it.  I didn't really know what to do with it so Ive been looking at it for a while.  I decided to just make it the focal (I know that this is probably easy for many of you but for me this was hard to see the vision for some reason - could be that my muse took a vacation and didn't tell me! LOL)

I used some distress inks (wild honey, burgundy and black I think) to color in the edges.  Th paper is ivory cardstock.  The embossing is colored with Archival ink in black.

Here's a nice close up of the embossed image and coloring.  I added some water droplets for aging.  That always looks nice for the old fashioned look.

I also added some gold vellum.  (I have had this vellum for years and years. I'm so glad that I saved it!  I love the transluscent gold color.  It reminds me very much of the gold shimmer paper from the Stardream brand (is that Neenah? I can't remember)  Anyway I embossed the vellum and added it to the corner.

I added brown grosgrain ribbon and a little metal key with a garment pin at the top and also down the right side of the card (that covers a line).
You will also notice that the background is done in canvas. Its a natural fiber. Its nice seeing these on the market now.

Thanks for stopping by.
