Discover Liffe, a Collage Card

Hi everyone!

I hope that you are all having a great week!  Today's card is in one of my favorite styles, Steampunk!

Items used:
  • dark brown card base (card size is 5 x 7)
  • card stock in rusty red and medium brown
  • gold glossy card
  • Brown Fireworks card specialty paper by Hot Off the Press
  • brown 1mm jute string (rally reasonable ribbon)
  • Trinkets from Idea Ology
  • Fleur de Lis - an old piece I had in my stash - Anthology
  • Word Die - Sizzix/Tim Holtz
  • Patterned paper by Bo Bunny
  • Gear Die by Memory Box
  • Gold paint pen for splatters

After I die cut the gear corner, I cut off a couple gears and placed them elsewhere on my card.

Beware Halloween!

Today's card is a pretty simple one to make.

Items for card
  • orange and black card stock
  • Orange 1mm jute string/ribbon (reasonableribbon.com)
  • Sizzix Halloween Words
  • Sizzix Bigz die - ghosts
  • Authentique Halloween patterned paper
  • white vellum
  • Charm from Idea Ology
One thing I did was to cut the word Halloween from my patterned paper - but only the bottom half.  I place my die s that the upper half didn't touch the paper.  I secured my die using stencil tape.

I also cut the word Halloween from black card stock.  After I attached my patterned paper, I added the word, fitting it into the cut space on my patterned paper.
Ive seen this technique elsewhere on the web an I think its just so cool.  I could have added back some of the little pieces in the "a" "o" and "l" - maybe next time.

I added a little charm from Tim Holtz Idea Ology release this year and tied it on with the orange jute string.

Vellum is not new but I love bringing it out again and using it for my ghosts.

Another look...

Spooky!

Hi everyone,
Today's card is a Halloween card of course but what I am so excited about is the material I used to create my ghosts!  Take a look!

The ghost on the left was cut from Vertigo Film!  I believe I used Pebbles pattern.  Vertigo Film is a plastic with various types of patterns in it.  This one was perfect for my ghost on the left.  Vertigo Film cannot be cut with the thin dies.  I cut this ghost from a BIGZ Die from Sizzix (one of Tim Holtz releases for 2015).  My other ghost on the right was cut from regular white translucent vellum.

Items used for this card:
  • Sizzix Bigz dies by Tim Holtz (Jack o Lanterns, Ghosts)
  • Sizzix Tin dies by Tim Holtz (Handwritten Halloween)
  • black and orange card stock
  • The mat black with silver foil chandeliers is from Hunky-dory (UK)
  • Black crinkle ribbon (Reasonableribbon.com)
  • Vertigo Film (Pebbles)
  • White Vellum
  • Silver linen card stock (Hot Off the Press).

I love the way the vellum and vertigo film look like ghosts.

They are good together and look dimensional.

I like the word on top of the pumpkin.  After I cut the pumpkin, I cut out a backing piece of black card stock and layered the two.

Ferris Wheel - a Card

Today's card is a collage card.  Items' used are:

  • Vintage Clock die Sizzix
  • Hot off the Press
    • Blue Peacock paper
    • Vellum rose
    • Black Dazzles Stickers
  • Distress inks Ranger
    • Picked Raspberry to color roses
    • Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Brushed Pewter to color white ribbon
    • White diamond pattern ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon
  • Papers from Graphic 45 Worlds Fair Journaling Notes
  • Blue shimmer paper for the clock face

What I was most excited about for this card is that this was my first go at coloring or staining the white diamond ribbon I bought.  I love the pattern to this.  It really gives my card an elegant touch.  (If you are interested in looking at the colors go to www.reasonableribbon.com  The online store is really great. I've never had a complaint.  They've go this monthly ribbon club for $10 where you can get 6-7 different ribbons.  Its great for one's ribbons stash!)

Anyway, I used Ranger's Distress line of stains and some metallic silver.  It worked out quite well.  I was concerned that darker stains would not show the diamond pattern.

For the picture below, I used a small paintbrush and a Picked Raspberry ink pad to color the roses.  I sprayed a little plain water on a clean brush and went over them again to create a slight watercolor effect.  I edged the picture in Vintage Photo.

Ghostly Greetings Halloween Card

Hi everyone and greetings!

Today's card features a new die I just got.  It is from Memory Box.  Actually they now have several series of these dies and you will see me using them in some cards in November and December.

What is so cool about this die is that it is a corner distress die.  It cuts a pattern into the card rather than die cutting a pattern hat then has to be glued onto the card.  I have to say that I was very excited when I first saw a sample card made with one of these dies.  (PAMCRAFTS - a blog)  I love the effect it gives my card.  I used red vellum to back the inside.  When you open it, the card glows.

Items for this card:
  • Memory Box die
  • Purple card stock for card base
  • Skeleton cameo from Idea Ology

  • Red jewels from Michaels
  • Red Vellum from www.paperandmore.com
  • Sentiment from Small Talk Occasions - Idea Ology
  • Gold glossy card and Spellbinders Fancy Labels die
  • Distress Ink Wilted Violet
  • mounting tape

Haunted... a Halloween card

Hi everyone,

I've been having fun with Tim Holtz new Halloween items.  Used in this card are:

  • Black card stock for card base
  • holographic paper
  • silver linen card stock (for word haunted)
  • "HAUNTED" from Handwritten Halloween word dies - Sizzix

  • Patterned paper from Authentique
  • Black crinkle ribbon from May Arts
  • Pearl brads from Idea Ology
  • Distress Inks: Vintage Photo, Picked Raspberry (makes green)
  • Skull key from Michaels (its from a couple years ago)

Notes:
  • I added the brads to the paper before I attached to the card,  I cut off any brad tines that showed.
  • The inking I did was accidental.  I wanted an edging of vintage photo and a pinkish red sky.  I got green instead!  Still ok though.
