Get Well Soon, a Slimline Card

Get Well Soon, a Slimline Card

Hello Dear Friends,

I hope that the weeks' heat hasn't got you down. Keep cool, you guys!

Today's card is another slimline card. This time it is a Get Well Soon card.  It's always good to keep at least one to hand just in case I need it.

This is a standard size slimline card made with white cardstock and layered in black cardstock.
I added the patterned mirror card (Crafters Companion - I believe it's one of their luxury cardstocks for every day.) to my card.
I cut the banner above from holographic card using a Diamond Press die.
I have a grass die which I cut several times. I added some green ink to the front layer and left the back layer of grass alone.
I mounted the back layer first, then added the flowers, then added the front layer of grass. I alternated the height for the flowers, cutting the stems short for the yellow flowers.

I have this cute little flower die which is part of a slimline die set by Diamond Press. I cut 9 sets of the flowers from green cardstock. Then I cut flowers from
yellow cardstock and pink pearl card
I cut the flower tops off and glued them to the green base. Then I mounted these flowers to the card onto the back layer of grass. Then I added the front layer of grass.
I added red and yellow gems to the flowers.

I added a sentiment (Paper Wishes) to the center of my card.

I love the Paper Wishes Dazzles and sentiments lines.  The sentiments are so varied, and I get a lot on a single sheet.  They sell them in multi-colored sets (usually black, white, silver and gold). They've recently come out with pastel shades.
The Thin Lines and Jewel Border Dazzles are another thing I often use to outline my cards or add a decorative touch.

(Note: I haven't been paid or given free merchandise to say this.  I just love their product.)

Thankful for You Rose Card

Thankful for You Rose Card

Hi everyone,
I hope that your June has been a good one.  We haven't gotten to the summer heat in California just yet.  The weather has been so nice with warm sunshine and cool breezes.

Today's card is reflective of my thoughts these days.  I am thankful. I am thankful for you, that I have enough to eat, a place to sleep.

My card base is a standard A2 size (5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches) and is made from white cardstock (probably 250 gsm or greater).

  • I matted some coral pink pearlescent cardstock onto my card base followed by patterned paper.
  • I usually cut my mats 1/8 inch smaller than the previous mat. Therefore, my card base being 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches - my first mat is 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 inches.
  • The patterned paper is from Craft Consortium.
  • I pulled out an older Crafters Companion die and cut the oval from a pale green pearlescent cardstock (I thought it was white, but it wasn't LOL.)
  • I used a rose die from an Anna Griffin die set (Pop Up Bouquet Die Set) to cut my die. (I really like this die. It's got little thorns on the stem making it more realistic.)
    • First, from dark green specialty paper.
    • Second, from hot pink pearl card
  • I layered the pink rose onto the green.
  • I also cut out a flourish (from same die set) and layered it onto my card.
  • I added the rose on top of the flourish.
  • I added an AG sentiment to finish.

I hope that you enjoyed today's card.  Please leave feedback. I'm always interested in what you might want to see!

Ribbon-Threaded Slimline Card

Ribbon-Threaded Slimline Card

Hi all!

This is a surprise, isn't it?  The regular Sunday post will still happen. Sometimes I make a card that I really want to share so I may post something during the week.

I've had these Crafters Companion dies for 2 years! I decided to pull them out and create something.

The base card (slimline) is white card measuring 3.5 inches by 8.5 inches. It is matted with cardstock from Craft Consortium in Ink Drops Vivid.
I used a ribbon threading die from Crafters Companion to cut my design in pink pearl card (measures 1.25 inches by 7,75 inches)
This was matted onto some dark purple card stock and having a 1/8-inch border. I added some dark purple ribbon (Spellbinders) and attached a bow. I finished off with Tonic Studios Crystal Drops in Sweet Lilac.

For the inside of my card, I used some more of the ribbon to create a couple banners. I used the waste from the pink pearl card to decorate the inside. Paper used for the inside is Belle Countryside from Crafters Companion.

Dandy Lion, a Slimline Card

 Dandy Lion, a Slimline Card

Hi and Welcome to my blog!

I've been making up quite a few cards this month.  I wanted to share one with you.

I got this dandelion die from The Scrapman. you can see his stuff online and also online at Frantic Stamper.com.
I love his dies as many are steampunk in origin and all are unique (I think he comes from Russia maybe?)

This is a standard slimline card made with white cardstock and layered with silver cardstock (has a linen texture) and a blue cardstock and then with patterned paper (CC). The center strip is from Craft Consortium.

I made both tags in blue and matted them onto the same silver card I used on the card base. I die cut the letters from the silver also and mounted them onto the tags.
I die cut the dandelion from the same silver linen card and added to my card with some foam squares - but glued the base directly to the card.
I added some hearts and yellow pearls to finish. (I got the hearts and the little circle sentiments from 49 and Market - their Vintage Artistry line. (The ones I have are about 1 1/2 years old. I do see the Vintage Artistry Line with new additions.)

Paper Pieced Flower Card

 Paper Pieced Flower Card

This was my first try at paper piecing.  I used liquid glue (not the best idea).  I chose this beautiful flower die with MANY tiny pieces!  LOL

Here is what I did:

This is a standard A2 sized card made with black cardstock.

I wanted to do a paper piecing project. I pulled out a very pretty Diamond Press die and chose three colors of cardstock (black, pink, green). I ran the die through with black first. I mounted it on white cardstock which I then adhered to my card. I attached all the pieces to my card directly, using the black outline as my guide.

I ran the die through again with the pin cardstock. I was very careful to take out the pieces a few at a time as some of these are tiny and I didn't want to lose them. I used liquid glue with a fine tip to adhere the pieces. I used a gem pick up tool to make holding and placing the pieces easier.
Once the pink flowers were done, I ran the die through with the green cardstock and adhered the green pieces to the card.

I took a break to destress...LOL, then finished my card with a sentiment (Paper Wishes).
