Muse with Butterflies Card

Hi everyone!  I'm going to jump right into today's card!

When I'm looking at other websites and blogs, and I see a card I like, or want to know what materials the artist used, I go a little nuts when I can't find out. This is because I want to use some of those papers or embellishments.  So, I am trying to provide a basic materials list for you, dear readers, in case you are curious about what I used.

Materials:
  • writing embossing foiled (Sizzix) on gold foil card
  • Chain is from a steel rule die from Sizzix called Chained (I've been using this a lot. Check it out.)
  • Butterflies used Frantic Stamper Petite Butterflies  (I am providing the link because this die is neat!)
  • Background paper by Sizzix called Little Sizzles.
  • Gold lines from Dazzles by Hot off the Press

It's a pretty simple card to make but very dramatic!  I love the little butterflies cut from blue foil which was embossed first..  They reflect back to the chains cut from dark blue shimmer paper.

The muse letters were some random ones that I had but I did color over them with a light wash of pink shimmer.

In the next picture you can really see the pink shade come out on the letters.  Also I only attached the butterflies at the center so I could bend up the wings.  These little butterflies are so delicate.

Fall Card

Hi everyone!  When I make a card, I tend to cut a few of the same thing. That leaves me extra to play around with.  Not the most efficient way to tell the truth. But I was playing around with some spare parts today and came up with this card.

  • writing embossing folder (Sizzix) (on gold foil card)
  • birch tree die (Frantic Stamper) (cut from copper Stardream paper)
  • Embossing strip (Sizzix)
  • Letters Basic Grey
  • Flowers (?)

I used a black card for my base and mounted the gold foil card with the embossed writing on it. This is a square 4x4 inches which I normally don't do.  The birch die is actually wider than the card. I adhered it to the gold embossing and then trimmed it before adding to my card.

I don't normally use the embossing folders that are those thin ones that only do edges but I did this time (my first actually).  It worked out very nicely!.  I embossed onto gold Stardream paper (Shimmer paper) and then cut into two lengths to add to my card. I was going to cut the normal two-point banner end but wanted to do something different so I used a small circle punch to create a different end to my pieces.
