A Hearty Birthday Wish

My sister's birthday is coming up this week and I wanted to make her a few very special cards.  She loves the Victorian style so I chose Anna Griffin paper and a pretty Happy Birthday sentiment.  I used two oval dies (comes from a doily set by Hot Off the Press - their line is called Paper Artist.  I like these dies = they cut nicely.)  The doily is cut from grey suede paper.

I didn't even cover the front of my card (ivory card base).  I punched a pattern from gold card and added it to the bottom of my card.

For the inside of my card, I added the Anna Griffin paper and edged it in gold.  I added my little sentiment tag.  On the left I added some transparency and covered the glue dots I used with white lacy Dazzles.  I added a swirl of bling to finish.

Here is a close up of my little tag.  Its so pretty.

Thank you as always for stopping by and adding your comments which I always read and appreciate.

Are You a Good Witch or a Bad Witch?

I love The Wizard of Oz.  I've watched it every year since I was a small child.  I was happy to see that die cuts of the characters have come out that can be used on cards and scrapbook pages.
My card today is using the Good Witch of the North, Glinda.  The die cut is exactly accurate and very clear.  I added some 2mm clear gems and some glitter glue to accent her crown.  I also added a Tim Holtz star to her wand so that it would stand out.
I made this card for my sister's birthday which is coming up soon.  I am sure that she will get a kick out of this as she is a fan of Oz also.

Materials used:
  • Hot Off the Press Gypsy Jewels paper pack (love this paper - each sheet is ombre)
  • Tim Holtz Idea Ology Mirrored Stars
  • Light Pink Crinkle Ribbon
  • 2mm clear acrylic gems
  • Glitter Glue
Close Up!

Here is a closer look.  As you can see, the image is perfect!

I computer journaled this famous question to Dorothy.

Beautiful - a Card

Beautiful French Country
by Lis Whiting

Roosters are popular right now and the Graphic 45 French Country Collection is full of them!  I love the beautiful reds with touches of green and blue.  I created this as a 6 x 6 card.  I started with a card base of kraft. It lended itself to the whole "countryside" feel.  I worked with the 8 x 8 pad.
There is a page with six different "cards" (I don't know what else to call them).  I cut one out to use as part of my cover. Since there are two sheets of each pattern, I cut out the stamps from the second sheet to layer onto my card below.

I added a Tim Holtz Idea-Ology trinket heart, painted in Fired Brick and tied with red bakers twine.  The heart is attached to the little tag.

All I had left to do was to add my ribbon and bow. I used a bright blue that matched (sort of) the feathers in the rooster's tail.

I hope that you liked my card. Thanks for stopping by!
