Lavender Butterfly

I love to use butterflies on my cards. They make a great 3-D addition and add a bit of whimsy to any card.  (As I'm sitting here looking at the top of my card...wouldn't this make a pretty decoration for the top of a box or gift?)

I have several butterfly dies.  After Rozy made all those butterflies, I decided that I wanted to make a card or two (see the Frantic Stamper Facebook post on 5-12-14) using the FS dies.
I wanted my card to be non-traditional. I started with a black and white striped paper added to an ivory card base.  I added some patterned lavender paper which I also used to cut out the intricate butterfly.  I also used one of the new photo card sets (ADORE).  I only used the photo card itself and cut it twice; once in gold glossy and once in gold shimmer.  I took the cut-outs and added them back into the gold glossy and added to my card.  This is the anchor for my pretty butterfly.

To keep the paper theme going, I used the solid butterfly die to cut out a gold glossy butterfly which became the bottom layer.  I put the lavender butterfly on top.
I added some bling and some ribbon to finish.

I love the way this card turned out with the vertical and horizontal lines.

Wish...a Card with a Castle

Hi everyone!  Today, as promised, I am exploring the variety of way that the castle die from Frantic Stamper can be used.

First, the card!

I made my castle using Frantic Stampers Precision Die   Princess Castle Die FRA-Die-09185.  I used dark brown linen cardstock.  The castle itself is three layers.  Continue reading below for how I did it!

.

I hand made the banner.  I cut two triangles from gold glossy cardstock.  I cut the inside out of one using an xacto blade leaving about 1/8 inch border.  I attached this to the other triangle with mounting tape.  The valence is actually made from some of the sires of the castle, only done in gold glitter card.

Here is another look. The gold glitter is very sparkly. This photo doesn't do it justice.

Here is a closer view of my castle.  There are actually three layers here.  I used the same die cut and did some trimming. Read on for how I did it!

Step 1:  I used two die cuts of the castle.

The castle on the left has the left tower cut off.
The RIGHT castle has the tall thin spire cut off.

I added mounting tape as seen below. The castle on the RIGHT: you are looking at the back side of the TOP piece.  the piece on he left is the bottom piece, front side.  Notice that one piece I placed on the TOP castle. I did this because I was able to hide it better - it was easy to position.

 Put together with mounting tape.

Without mounting tape - now you see why I chose to use mounting tape..

This is the third layer.  The modified die cut is on the right.  It will be adhered to the back of the castle with mounting tape.

And on my card~!

I hope that you had as much fun reading about this card as I had making it!

Take care and come back soon!

Blue Flower on White

Hi all!  I SO love white on white (or ivory on ivory) cards.  For they are so elegant.  Can you guess what today's card is?  You are RIGHT!  It's a white on white (almost) card!

For my card I used white card stock.  I used an embossing folder (Hot off the Press) for the front of my card base (no mat here).  Then I cut out the center pieces again using white card.

The dies  used are called "anja's" designs. The company is Marianne Creatables Dies.  I have really fallen in love with these Anja designs.  They are so ornate and awfully pretty!

All I did was layer both pieces (these come as a pair) with mounting tape and add to my card.  The larger piece is also embossed.

I added a strip of gold (Dazzles) to each side of my card and added the flower to the center.

There aren't many layers to this card but the die cuts are so ornate that I don't think I need to add anything else. What do you think?
