  Sometimes it's hard to find a great looking tree die. Frantic Stamper has that all sewn up with her tree die though. It's great!  I used the die with some holographic card stock (blue with snowflakes) to cut out three trees.  I layered these onto white suede paper (love the feel). I finished with a border of gold Dazzles and a Tim Holtz star (these are very dimensional and come in one pack with several sizes) and a Merry Christmas in red glossy!

This is a very easy card to make using Frantic Stampers die! My base card is white card stock. I matted a white pearl patterned paper on it.  I added a designer Christmas Tree cut from gold glitter card stock and decorated it with cabochons of red and pink in two sizes (got them from Michael's).  I attached a dimensional star (Tim Holtz) at the top.  I added a wrinkled ribbon bow and my sentiment and done!  Enjoy!

Today's card uses a new favorite die from Frantic Stamper - the ornament die!  I can see using this die to create pretty three-dimensional ornaments for my tree this year too.  I started off by die cutting my ornament out of green suede paper. (I'm really hooked on this specialty paper.  It feels so soft and comes in many rich deep colors - my faves!).  I decided to back my ornament with some silver glitter paper behind the cut outs only  - and added a silver glitter paper topper also.  My card base is plain white card stock.  I covered the front of my card with a white patterned pearl paper (so pretty - it kind of looks like snowflakes). I used gold glitter border dazzles to "hang" my ornament on my card.  I also had some small acrylic red buttons to add some more color to my card front.  I cut out "Merry Christmas" in gold glitter also and attached everything to my card with glue stick or glue dots.  I did attach my green suede ornament with foam tape.  Hope you like this card and try it out.  Thanks for stopping by!

This card turned out really well!  I wanted to use the new Angel cutting die from Frantic Stamper but wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it.  I decided to cut it out of gold glitter card stock and set it aside.  I decided on a a card vase of plain white and I covered the front with a white patterned pearl paper.  I edged the entire card front with one row of white pearls.  I also decided to add a little color and cut out some holly on a rich green suede paper. I attached my angel with glue stick (TIP: I dabbed it on  - don't rub or you'll get clumps because of the intricacy of the die cut.) I used the flourish from the cut out of the angel as the "music" she was blowing on her horn.  I added a few music notes (another great Frantic Stamper die) in gold glitter also.  I added my green suede holly branch at the bottom of my card. I used some red jewels for the berries and had a couple of poinsettia flowers in acrylic leftover from last year that I added.  I added the word "Rejoice" (from a Dazzles sticker set).  I really like the way this card turned out.  The suede paper adds a tactile accent and the two acrylic flowers add that 3-D effect I like so much.

I love collage and I love dress forms! So, what's better than to match the two up in my Christmas card today!

Card Base:

• Normally I work in A2 - or 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. Today's card is 5 x 6 1/2 inches.
• My card base is made from kraft paper to give an "old" feel.
• I chose a Christmas paper with roses on it for my die cut and an all over pattern for the card.  I found some white patterned paper that looked like old wood and decided to use that also.
• I decided to use the white "wood" paper on the left and the rose collage paper on the right - vertically. I planned on covering the seam with my dress form

Dress Form:

• Die cut Dress Form using Tim Holtz Sizzix die
• Cover top with roses patterned paper
• Cover stand with gold mirror (or gold glossy)
• Cover base with suede paper
• Edge one side with Distress Ink in Walnut Stain
• Decorate dress form with white pearls draped on one side
• Add small white crochet doily on lower left side - add a fancy button and glue a white pearl in the middle
• Mount Dress form onto card with foam tape -over the seam between the two paper mats.

Pie Plate:

• The pie plate is made from Frantic stamper's own die - the Parisian Lamp Post.  This die is amazing and can be used for so many things - my pie plate, a candelabra, a sign post - wow!
• To make my pie plate, I cut off the three candle sconces. I cut below the first "bulge" in the stem. I cut the very flat part of the base off. I cut just above the first indentation at the bottom.  I glued the two pieces together with a glue dot. I trimmed the bottom piece stem edges just a little so they were a little thinner.
• Although there is a seam, I did nothing with it. I used stardream gold paper and the seam is almost invisible.

The rest is decoration which I had fun with using Dazzles gold borders.

I really love the Mix n Match dies that Frantic Stamper has, especially the little squares!  Each square has a design inside and they all match.  I wanted to use the Christmas set so.  I cut out the NOEL square on green suede paper. I then cut around the edge leaving about a 1/4 inch edge for my square.  I mounted this on gold glitter card stock, added two layers of mounting tape and embedded two stick pins in the mounting tape.

  To create my card, I started with a dark green card base.  I added two mats - one of gold glitter card stock and the other a dark/light green chevron design.  I cut out the lamppost in black and gold shimmer paper and once in gold glitter card stock (I wanted to use the little rectangle cut outs for the lamps). 

I layered these and added to my card with glue stick.  I added my NOEL square to the lower right.  I wanted to add a splash of color and chose red ric rac at the top with a couple of acrylic glitter gems.

Merry Kitchmas Santa!

Its getting closer to Christmas.  I still haven't finished everything but inst that like me every year?  At least I sent out my cards on time this year!

Today's card is a bright and fun one to do using Anna Griffin papers and paper tole.  I used red glossy for my card base which I almost never do.  This is because glossy tends to crack when you bend it - so you have to score it very carefully.
I used some of the Santa paper and added a paper tole holly branch to the right.

I added some snowflakes die cut from white glitter card.  The picture doesn't do them justice. They are SO sparkly in person, especially with the lights low.  Its just magical!

I added a Merry Christmas in red glossy to match my card base.

Both the snowflake and word dies come from Frantic Stampers own line of dies.

Well, back to cleaning my apartment!

Starlight Christmas Tree Card

HI and welcome to another Christmas card design!  I hope that these ideas inspire you to create some cards of your own!  It is cards and handwritten notes from my mom and dad that I cherish most. So, build a memory or two for your family.

Today's card features brown and green suede paper and a Frantic Stamper die.

I really love the look and feel of suede paper.  The pictures above give you some idea of the velvety feel that suede paper gives.  The darker colors are deep rich tones that give my cards a luxurious look.

For my card above, I used Bo Bunny paper.  I cut out a frame of tan suede paper and mounted both to my card base (red).  I added a green suede swirl with holly below.  I added touches of red glitter glue for the berries.

I cut my tree from gold glossy and added to my card using glue dots under the stars.  I decorated my tree with glitter glue and Liquid Pearls.

Merry Christmas Trees Card

I just couldn't resist just one more Christmas card with the Frantic Stamper die.  I just love this die. The tree looks so realistic.
I decided on silver glossy and blue snowflake holographic papers for my trees.  The background is a simple splatter design of white and yellow - I forget which brand it was. 
The RIBBON is the next thing I want you to notice.  This is from a DIE.  It is actually a two die set and it cuts ribbon designs. I cut one set in gold glossy and the other set in red suede paper and then layered them. didn't it come out nicely!
The greeting was a dollar stamp from Michaels.

I am just starting to get ready for Christmas. I am just so busy at work (I work full time) when I come home I dont usually want to do much.  My card making is a great stress relief!

Washi and Paper Tole Christmas Card

Today's card uses some Christmas washi tape to create a background for some paper tole (the present).

I've noticed that washi tapes can be oriented with a white background or an ivory background (at least the ones I have), so I use them with either an ivory or white card base.  (I used white card for the card today.)

I decided to do plain stripes and chose a few designs and repeated them until I filled up the card base.  I was going to trim the edges but decided to fold the ends over which made a nicer finish.

I added some gold glitter glue to my present's ribbon (gotta have some sparkle!).

I am all for making things simple during this busy time of year.  My card above took me about 3 minuts to make.  I chose a patterned paper (this one had red glitter on it as accents).  I used a white card base, rounded the corners and added the patterned paper as my card.  The only other thing I did was to cut out a matching piece and mounted it with foam tape to my card (it's the "25").  This worked out really well because the paper had the "25" edged with blue or red.  I cut the red option down so that the blue would show behind it.

Paper Tole Christmas Cards

I wanted to share some paper tole Christmas cards. I don't normally do paper tole (I don't like cutting out all the little pieces).  But companies like Anna Griffin and Hot off the Press are now offering paper tole that is die cut.  All I have to do is punch them out, stack and attach them with mounting tape.  What I like most about paper tole is the three-dimensionality of the piece when I am done.  It's quite beautiful!

Paper Tole starts out with the full image as the bottom layer. There are usually 3-5 layers, each layer is a copy of part of the full image and each next layer is smaller.  As you adds each layer using mounting tape or foam dots/squares, you develop a 3-D design.

The first three designs come from paper tole that I bought at Paper Wishes (aka Hot off the Press).  Paper Wishes offers these foil paper tole which are just gorgeous.

This first card turned out to be my favorite.  I used silver glitter card and tore some white pearl design paper for the "snow hills".  The paper tole snow people are so cute!  The silver glitter card worked out extremely well and looks like its snowing!

My next card is really simple.  I used a white card base, red shimmer paper and white glitter card (fine).  I added the Santa paper tole and that was about it.  It came with its own greeting!

The third paper tole I made was Santa's sleigh.  You would think it would be an easy card but for me it wasn't.  I had trouble visualizing how best to create my card around this one.  I finally settled on what you see below - with Santa pointing toward the greeting which I added.  I think the gold glitter card really helps the sleigh stand out.

My last paper tole card is a little different (and much less sparkly).  Both the paper tole and the background paper are from Anna Griffin.  (HSN sold a package of Anna Griffin Paper Tole - and when they said it was die cut, I jumped on it! LOL!  I really love Anna Griffin's classic style and I knew that her paper tole would be great.)

The only thing I added to my card was a silver star (Tim Holtz Idea-Ology).

Homemade Gift Wrap with Lumiere Paints - Just in time for Christmas!

I would like to show you all a technique that I learned years ago that turns an ordinary paper lunch bag into beautiful gift paper.

First we need to gather our supplies:

• rubber gloves (not critical but recommended)
• foam brush
• 1-2 paper lunch bags
• a couple of popsicle sticks (to stir the paint)
• Lumiere Paint by Jacquard in Bright Gold
• Lumiere Paint can be found at your local art supply store and sometimes at Michael's
• Neopaque Paint by Jacquard in Black
• Neopaque has no shimmer or pearl.
• Spray bottle with water (any kind)
• scissors
• a flat place to work & a flat place to let your paper dry

 1. Cut the bottom off your paper bag and cut the side to open it up into one sheet.

2. Crumple your paper up into a ball.

 3. Open up your paper and smooth it out again. Then lightly spray the front and back with your water spray. Do not get it dripping wet.  A light mist to cover the paper is fine.  It should be enough to get the paper damp.



 4. NOTE:  An interesting thing about paper: the wetter paper gets, the weaker the fibers (conversely the drier paper gets the stronger the fibers). SO - be careful with your paper now - it's wet. Crumple your paper up again after you've sprayed it.  Smooth it out again. (By doing this you are breaking the fibers of the paper.  It makes the paper softer so that when you start using it to wrap your gift or make a card, it will be more pliable.)

5. Mix up your Lumiere paints with the popsicle sticks.

6. Pour out first one color and then pour out the other color onto your paper. (As you can see here, my black paint is clumpy.  Actually it was really thick when I opened my jar - old jar.  Not to worry, I sprayed some water and stirred it up.  Good as new.

 7. Take your foam brush and spread the paint over your paper.  The colors will mix.  I added some more gold on top of the first coat to add some streaks.

 8. Here is another look at the paper after I finished painting it. After I finished painting my paper, I used a heat gun and dried it (front and back). I'm a little impatient!  You can also let the paper air dry over a few hours. (Once dry, I trimmed the paper edges. Now the paper is ready to use.)

 9. I decided to do two different mixes.  I used bright gold and pearl magenta for the paper below.

 10.  I also took a kanji stamp and placed my dry stamp on the paper to reverse stamp.  With this process, I removed some paint from my paper.  What you see below is the brown kraft color.   I used this stamp to create a design on my pink paper.

 11. And here are my homemade papers, wrapping gifts for my sister's birthday, ready to go! (Although the kanji design is faint, you can see it on the wrap.) The crumpled paper patterns really add to the sheen and texture of this paper.

 12.  Here is a close up of both the black/gold and the magenta/gold papers.
