Sizzix Textured Impressions Ornate Flowers/Frames
Martha Stewart Photo Corner Punch (Have I mentioned just how much I LOVE this punch?)
Tim's Ink Blending tool
Non Stick Craft Sheet Small:  9"x12"
Inks and Powders:
Ranger Distress Inks
            Barn Door
            Tea Dye
            Walnut Stain

Directions:

  1. Fold your Butter cardstock in half to form your card base.  The card opens on the right. Set aside.
  2. Using a Sizzix (or other die cutting tool), cut out the center of your gold foil with the mini baroque die.
  3. Using a Sizzix (or other die cutting tool), cut out your bird.  The die has two birds on it. I used the one without the legs.
  4. Embossing: I used the large embossing folders from each set as follows:
    1. Red Foil – Ornate Flowers/Frames Set
    2. Gold Foil – Damask Set
    3. Grungeboard Bird– Floral Flourishes/Vines Set (I used the one with the hearts)
  5. Attach the red foil to the gold foil piece, making sure that the embossed design is centered in the opening.
  6. Using the photo corner punch, punch out 4 red photo corners (not embossed) and attach them to the gold/red piece.
  7. Make a bow with your ribbon and attach the bow with a glue dot to the left side of your card (see picture).
  8. Attach the tails of the ribbon on the back of the piece.
  9. Attach this whole piece to your card base. Set aside.
  10. To complete your bird:
    1. Using direct to paper technique, rub Barn Door on your embossed grungeboard bird.  Grungeboard takes embossing really well and the raised design will really pop with the color.
    2. Dry with a heat gun.
    3.  Using a blending tool and craft mat, color first the edges and then most of the bird (except the very middle) with Tea Dye.
    4. Using your blending tool and Walnut Stain, color the edges only of the bird.
  11. Attach your bird to the card with mounting tape.
  12. Add an emerald eye to your bird.

Thanks for stopping by.  If you would like to see a particular technique or style, please leave a comment!
