Micro Mini Slims!

Hi everyone and Happy weekend to you all!  I hope you are doing something crafty today!

Today is the last of the mini card posts, and we're going with MICRO MINI SLIMS! (Mini slimline cards) These cute cards are 4 inches tall x 2 1/2 wide.

All my cards are made with white cardstock.

This one is my favorite. I love the purple hues in the patterned paper.  The mini flowers come from Anna Griffin.

I wanted an oriental feel and for the most part I think I succeeded.  I was trying to do floating random flowers but that didn't come out like I wanted it to. In hindsight, I wish that I had made the upper flower straight.

This card is made with papers from Graphic 45 and gives it a rich feel. I didn't have a lot of room for matting so i used Thin Line Dazzles to edge my papers and the touches of gold really are pretty.

This is a micro mini slimline card also.  It looks kind of big in the picture. I did mat my card base with black to make the card stand out. The sentiment is from one of those repeat word dies. I trimmed down the strip to fit my card.

This is a bold card.  I took some black cardstock and cut some strips of paper in different colors. I added these to the black card and trimmed my edges. I matted this onto my card. I added a strip of embossed purple cardstock (same color as the strip) and matted onto gold. I added a yellow bow that I had lying around.

I hope that you enjoyed our Sundays together as we explored the mini card!

Mini Cards and Butterflies!

Hi everyone!

Hope that you are all doing well.  I am enjoying the cooler weather out.

Today's mini cards include butterflies, butterflies and butterflies!

All cards are 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.

The butterfly decorations are translucent stickers I bought off Amazon.

First card is white cardstock base, matted with a patterned paper. You can't tell from this picture but the patterned paper actually has a sheen on it and makes it look a little lie Stardream paper.

White ribbon and bow and butterflies in different sizes added and gems.

Second card was pretty simple.  Card base was made from white cardstock and matted with black cardstock, then patterned paper.  I tore a strip of paper and glued it to my card, then added the butterflies.  I trimmed the edges and then added the patterned paper to my card. Silver gems added.

This card base is made with whie cardstock.  There is no mat.  Instead I used Thn Line Dazzles (Paper Wishes) to create an edge around my card.  I die cut a basket weave pattern from gold mirror card and added it to my card. I added the butterflies and finished with Tonic Dream Drops which are in pastel shades of pink, green and blue. Dream Drops are also AB. The sentiment comes from Tiny Words and Phrases in black (Paper Wishes). (I have to say - the green shade is called Dragon Scales.  I love that name.)

This last card is probably my favorite. The translucent butterfly looks so ethereal against the patterned paper beneath it.
I added the butterfly to some honeycomb paper (foiled in gold) and added the sticker and trimmed. I added a gold mirror card mat and added to my card. I added a sentiment and a single gold gem.

I hope that you've enjoyed my cardlets. Lis

Mini Cards Built around different techniques

 Hi everyone!

Hope your week has gone well.

For today's mini card collection, each card uses a different technique.  Let's go!

First up - the Tunnel Card.

My card base is white cardstock.  The challenge here was to line up my oval dies for each layer so that when they cut the centers, the centers would line up. I used a scalloped oval die to make the second layer cut.

I created some dimension by adding some gold swirlies in between the layers.  The bottom layer is a beautiful, patterned vellum paper from Crafters Companion (Hummingbird collection).

My second card is a collage card.  Collage is probably my favorite style.  I used a number of items to create my design.
  • The man comes from Tim Holtz paper Dolls
  • All the pink comes from the 49 and Market Vintage Artistry Collection in Blush including the ephemera and the rub ons.
  • The sentiment is also from Tim Holtz Chit Chat.

I'm not sure that you would call this a technique as much as a style. It's an overlay. The card base is made from white cardstock and matted with collage papers. I added a strip of crochet to add to the "age". The overlay of gold flowers comes from a single die.

The following three cards used the Iris Folding technique. I pulled out some different nesting die shapes and used the smaller ones to create the aperture.  I chose plain cardstock colors (although you can used patterned paper for this). I chose thinner cardstock.  Once all the pieces are folded and added, it can be quite thick.
I added the top mat and decorated.

I hope that you enjoyed these mini cards!

Blinged Out Mini Cards

 Hi everyone!

I'm back again with more mini madness!

This time I used gems to design and encrust my cards, along with strips of paper in geometric designs.

For this first card, I used a black card base and then pulled out all my bling and covered the front.  The card isn't thick at all.

On the next cards I used paper strips to create a design and then decorated with either pearls or gems to accent.

The last card is a little different from the others.  I was trying to replicate a design that I saw online (but didn't quite make it...LOL). So I covered up the design with a gold mirror die cut (that's geometric, right?) and added some bubbles below.

Hope that you enjoyed today's mini cards!

Halloween Rocker Cards

 Hi everyone!

So, there was this challenge in July on Scrapbook.com to make mini cards.  I thought it would be cute, so I signed up.  WOW, what fun!

I pulled out my oval nested dies and used them to cut the card base.

Dimensions of the finished rockers are 5 inches long x 2 inches high.

The decorations at the top of each card make it more. Boo has a double mat.

(I think BOO! is my favorite.)

All of my base cards were made with white cardstock except Lucky which was made with a hot pink pearl card base.

I used a set of nested scallop ovals to cut papers that I used to mat the card bases.

I tried to make each cardlet (?) in a different style.

I managed to use up a few scraps along the way!

Enjoy!

White on White Card

 White on White Card

Hello dear friends!

Can you believe that it's September already? Time flies, that's for sure.

Today's card features a technique that is not new, but it has a great look on a card.

I have done this card in white on white.  Any color will do as long as it's the same color for the card base and the die cut that you add to the surface.

This is an A2 sized card made with white cardstock. There are no mats, and no embossing. This card is made with two layers: the card base and the design layer you glue on top. That's it.

I have a couple dies of script handwriting. The dies come from Tattered Lace. I used the large one here. Nothing is said in this die cut. It's all just random letters.

I die cut some flowers (Diamond Press) in white card and layered them. I also cut two leaves in white card.
After assembling the flower and attaching it to my card, I used a clear Sparkle pen (Crafters Companion) to color the petals on the top flowers only. I hope the picture is ok to see the sparkle. In real life, it's dazzling.

I added some gold gems to complete.
I haven't added a sentiment on the front because I didn't want to interrupt the flow of the card. The sentiment will go on the inside.

Hi!

 Hi! A Greeting Card

Hello Dear Friends,

I got the design for this greeting card from a Scrapbook.com card challenge. The design was the challenge.
(This card was not submitted for the challenge.)

This is a standard A2 size card made with white cardstock and matted with black cardstock.
I got the papers in a kit from Create and Craft (now HobbyCraft) a long time ago. I love the colors. It comes with pop out pieces too (I used two of them here).

I used gold Thin Line Dazzles (Paper Wishes) strips to outline the card front and the two pieces.
I glued on a key over the keyhole image. The glue I like to use is from Tonic Studios. It is Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.
I added some pink rhinestones, and the sentiment (also Paper Wishes).

CATS! a Card

 CATS! a Card

Hello Dear Friends,

I love all animals, but I have a special place in my heart for cats.
I collect various cat dies. I think seeing them brings me back to the kitties I've had over the years.  I don't have any cats right now. The dies I used below are from Paper Wishes, Spellbinders, Art Impressions and Amazon.

This card is a standard A2 size card made with white cardstock and layered with vellum with a rose pattern.

I love color block dies because I think that collage works well with them.  While getting my die I stumbled over my cat dies and had this card idea. I was envisioning layering the outline but once I saw the die cut (1/16 inch wide) I changed my mind LOL!
I used one die cut and adhered it with glue to the card.
I cut the cats from a copper mat mirror card. All were adhered with foam squares. I decided to cut one of them from a holographic card instead.
I added Chitchat words (Tim Holtz) and used alphabet stickers to spell out CAT.
The cats are die cut from a copper mat mirror card.

Queen Elizabeth II of England - In Memorium

 09-08-2022

It is a sad day today that the world has lost a great woman, Queen Elizabeth II of England.

Queen Elizabeth has lived an incredible and historic life and has influenced countries and people around the world. I think of the history she has lived, and that we have only read in books. Her steadfastness and dedication are lessons for us all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Collect Beautiful Moments, a Collage Card

Collect Beautiful Moments, a Collage Card

Hello Dear Friends,

Today's card features one of my favorite styles, collage.  I love old timey, Victorian things, so collage is perfect for bringing together found items.

I have been wanting to use a Nellie Snellen die set that I have. It has a large ticket and a mat, and some little bunting dies.

I cut the "ticket" from kraft cardstock and layered it with gold mirror card. I added a 2nd mat from Tim Holtz Backdrop papers.
I added some ephemera to my card. The circle and the middle ticket were adhered with foam squares. I added chitchat words as my sentiment.
I tied a jute twine in a dark brown around my card. I added the rose charm (Crafts Companion) and the little butterfly (Vellum) in the lower left.

Hummingbird Gate Fold Card

 Hummingbird Gate Fold Card

Hi and a Happy Hello to you!

Can you believe that it's September? I mean, September! Time always flies, doesn't it?

Today's card is a gate fold card.

This is a 5 x 7 gatefold card made with white cardstock.
  • To make the gatefold, I started with cardstock measuring 10 inches long x 7 inches high.
  • Starting with my cardstock positioned horizontally (long side), I scored at 2 1/2 inches on the left and 2 1/2 inches on the right.
  • I folded each side to the center of my card.
  • I now have my card base.

The card base was matted with:
  • gold mirror card: 2 3/8 inches wide x 6 7/8 inches tall. (x 2, one for each front panel)
  • Green pearl card: 2 1/8 inches x 6 5/8 inches (x2)
  • Patterned cardstock (Hummingbird by Crafters Companion):
    • 2 inches x 6 1/2 inches (x2)
The inside of the card was matted with:
  • Gold mirror card: 4 7/8 inches x 6 7/8 inches
  • Green pearl card: 4 5/8 inches x 6 5/8 inches
  • Patterned cardstock: 4 1/2 inches x 6 1/2 inches
Embellishments added:
  • Front:
    • Blue sparkle ribbon
    • Blue pearls
  • Inside:
    • Blue sparkle ribbon cut into two banners
    • Blue pearls
    • Sentiment

Scalloped Circle Shaped Card

 Scalloped Circle Shaped Card

Hi all!

Hope you had a great week!

Today's card is a shaped card and is about 6 x 6 inches.  I made this with an old Verso die (Tonic Studios).

My card base is white cardstock. I added a gold mirror mat to the front of my card as the first layer.
I adhered each layer with glue and created a banner from white cardstock and matted it with gold mirror card.
I added the flowers (Prima) and vines (Tim Holtz Greenery Thinlets dies) and attached my sentiment (Dazzles at Paper Wishes).

It was a lot of fun picking out all the colors for this card.  Most of the colors are cardstock with a bit of gold and blue mirror card.

I was going to add a bow but decided not to.  What do you think?

I love the different designs on each circle. These are actually two dies (one to cut the edge and one to cut in the design). So each can be used separately.

Here are some close ups of the detail on this card.
