Lace Technique, Card with Rose

 Lace Technique, Card with Rose

Hi all and Happy Sunday to you!

Today's card includes an old technique called "LACE" (pronounced lay SAY). There is supposed to be an accent on the "e" but I don't remember how to do that on my PC.

I have always been a fan of LACE. It originally came from the Netherlands (they have always had the trends in cardmaking).

In the original technique metal plates (not dies) were used to cut patterns in the paper. (The metal plates had gaps in them.) You took a craft knife or Lace knife and cut through the gaps. Then you folded and wove the paper to make pretty patterns. I still have some of the original cutting plates.

Crafters Companion has most recently come up with a set of dies in the most popular shapes.  (These are linear only.) This makes it very easy to cut the paper!  (There are some other dies on the market that do the same thing but the design is circular.)

This is a standard A2 size card made with white cardstock, then matted with a light blue cardstock.

I cut some blue cardstock down to 5 x 4 inches, added the die and ran it through my Diamond Press Marquis machine. The blue cardstock that I used has a lighter blue on the opposite side.
(The key with this technique is to have double sided paper. When you fold the cut portions, the opposite side with show and give it a lovely pattern.)

I wove the triangles. I put a drop of glue on the point of the bottom triangle and adhered to cardstock. I added the completed design to my card.

I added some matted patterned paper and grey pearls. To finish I added a flower sticker (AG).

I hope you enjoyed today's card. Thanks for stopping by!

Love You Card

Love You Card

Hi everyone,

I hope that you are all doing well!

This card is a standard 5 x 7 inches made with white cardstock.

  • I matted my card base with a dark green satin finish mirror card, then with a piece of Anna Griffin pattern paper. I think this came from the Pastoral collection.
  • Anna Griffin also made a set of border strips. I used one of them here and matted it with the same green card.
  • I used the Tonic Studios-Loaded Pockets-Oval Embroidery Hoop die set (middle one) and die cut the oval in a satin finish gold.
    • It is layered with a pale green pearlescent oval.
  • I used sentiment stickers from Paper Wishes (I cut two different ones apart to get the "love" and the "you".
    • I added them on the curve of the oval.
  • I used one of the AG 3 dimensional flowers and adhered this in the center of the die cut. I adhered this to my card with foam pads.
  • I made a bow with long tails from Vanilla Satin Ribbon (Tonic Studios). I attached it with glue dots.
    • I arranged the tails so that they would ruffle. I used glue dots on the underside of the tails to achieve this.
  • I used some dark green pearls from Hunkydory to decorate.
  • I used some clear drops from Cadence Liquid Jewelry on the oval and on the border strip.
    • I realize that these drops are clear and hard to see but they do add some interest.

 Thank you for stopping by,
