Paris Postcard

Hi everyone!

Today's card has a couple of interesting things on it.

Items used:
  • Paris Postcard replica
  • Photo from Idea Ology Photo booth set
  • Blue sparkly ribbon
  • clear micro beads (for stamp)
  • double stick paper and clear glitter (Ranger) - see bottom of card
  • Other image cut from scrapbook papers
  • light blue vellum for mat

For the stamp:
I took some double stick tape and covered the stamp which was part of the postcard.  I covered the tape with clear micro beads.

For the bottom of the card:
I used some paper size double stick (paper) and cut it out and placed it on my card.  I sprinkled the clear glitter on it.  It looks really pretty and you can see the picture behind it.  This glitter gives a nice sparkle without being too opaque or overwhelming.  For those of you who grew up in snow like I did, it looks like sparkly snow in the moonlight.

Be Fearlessly Authentic

Hi all!

Another collage card for you!

Items used:
  • Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Background paper (right) Anna Griffin
  • Background vellum left - www.paperandmore.com (this is a coated vellum on one side with a purple blue sheen)
  • Picture - Idea Ology
  • Jewel Brads (my stash - they are old)
  • frame that the picture sits on (Graphic 45 Journal Notes)
  • Ribbon comes from Really Reasonable Ribbon - This online site has many colors of the diamond design ribbon above. Its lovely to work with!
  • Distress Stain in Tarnished Brass
When I look at the old fashioned pictures that are so popular nowadays to use in crafts, I wonder who they were and what they were thinking the day they got their picture taken.  This woman is so beautiful and reminds me of my older sister.  The picture makes a great addition to a card.

You can get a better look at the purple vellum I used below.

Birdie

Hi everyone!   I hope that you are cooler than I am here in California.  We've been having 100 + degree heat.  Of course we are a desert and this makes it rough sometimes, especially since we are in a drought.

Today's card is a collage card of sorts.  This is a bit plainer than I usually make my collage cards, but sometimes simpler is better.

Items used:
  • Bird charm from Idea Ology
  • Roses from Prima
  • Purple 1mm burlap/jute ribbon from May Arts (you can get some at Really Reasonable Ribbon)
  • Other papers from Hobby Lobby
  • Dark Pink colored Vellum for mat (www.paperandmore.com - they have in smaller quantities and MANY colors)
I had a paper with pictures on it so cut one out and tore the edges, added Distress inks in Tea Dye and Picked Raspberry. I curled the corners. The paper was double sided with a dark brown which worked out perfectly.

Take care, Lis

Wicked!

Hi everyone!

I am a fan of Edgar Allen Poe's stories and poems.  When I saw that there was a brad with his portrait, I had to have it and use it in a card.
I decided to do a collage card for Halloween.

Items used for this card:
  • Idea Ology (rub ons, brads, "wicked")
  • Authentique Halloween papers
  • Spiderweb embossing folder (Tim Holtz/Sizzix)
  • Purple Stardream shimmer card
  • Bazzill card stock in Orange
  • Enamel Accents in Black (for Wicked)

Spooky!

Today's card is a pull out card (I'm not sure if that's the right name for it.  You pull open the card and the middle part turns and reveals a surprise.)

This card is made with a white card base and :
  • Feather Dazzle by Hot off the Press
  • Halloween charms by Idea Ology
  • Papers by Hot off the Press
  • Black Card Stock
  • Rare Oddities by Graphic 45
  • Thinlets by Sizzix to do the center cut outs and paper cut outs

The card was very easy to make once I figured out how to place the main thinlet die to make the main cut out of the three labels.  The die set comes with additional dies so that I was able to cut out papers to put on my card.

For the charms:
Once I cut them from the packaging (they are self adhesive), I mounted them on my card.
I took Distress Stickles for the spider, regular stickles for the skull (top) and for the bat, I use Enamel Accents in Black.  The enamel accents dries to a shiny black and has a great enamel look.  It was easy to add because it has a tiny applicator top.  It came out really good.

I added the feather and then added a gold pen line.  I hope you can see it in this picture.  I thought the front was too blank but didn't want to add to much because I didn't want to take away from the charms

October

Hi all!
Another Halloween card for you!
Todays card is a collage Halloween card.  I seem to be stuck on lavenders, blacks and oranges this year. (I love lavender.)

I started with a black card stock as my card base.  I embossed a Stardream (shimmer) card with the new Poison embossing folder that Tim Holtz has out this year.  Onto that I layered a number of ephemera pieces and I also used some purple punchinella.
Punchinella is sequin waste.  Its what's left after the sequins are punched out.  I love using
it and have a lot of colors.  I haven't used it in a while but you know how it is, what's old
                   is new again!
If you are interested in purchasing a sample or just looking at what's available, you can go to www.skybluepink.com. They have a great selection and the service is excellent.

I added a purple stripe ribbon that I got for a dollar at Michaels a long time ago.

Beware Spirits

Don't you love how this card turned out?  I used the new Graphic 45 Halloween line Rare Oddities on this card.

Also:
  • Halloween washi or tissue tape from Idea Ology
    • I really love the border this makes.
  • Orange ribbon with a plaid embossing from Really Reasonable Ribbon
  • Chit Chat word strips (Occasions - Idea Ology)
  • The pumpkin and the spider charm are also releases for this year from Idea Ology
  • I have a die that cuts a full A2 size but I cut it in half to make the gold foil chevron piece
  • The paper I used for the flourish on the pumpkin is called Gold Ripple and its a specialty card stock from Hot Off the Press
    • I really like the way this goes with the pumpkin.  It looks like gold vines and adds extra texture to the card overall.

Happy Halloween

Has it actually been since July that I've posted?  Ive been busy!  I am sorry for my absence but I am back with more cards!

Today's card (and the next few) are meant to get us all in the "spirit" as Halloween is a little more than a month away.  I don't know where the time has gone, that's for sure.

I used things from my stash (my stash is taking over my craft area so time to use it or lose it).

I cut out the pumpkins from a scrapbook paper.  I love the old fashioned look of these.  The borders are from various places.  You might recognize Tim Holtz' chain at the bottom.  I love the sparkly white bones.  The purple sentiment is Dazzles by Hot Off the Press and the 3-d bottles are some stickers I had left over from Michaels.

Oh yes, the background wrinkled silver paper is Little Sizzles from Sizzix.

Come back again for more cards!
