Christmas...a card

Hi everyone!

Today's card is using a new discovery for me in paper.  It's called satin finish (I'm sure that I'm the only one who didn't know about this...LOL)  I hope you get an idea of what this beautiful paper looks like (actually its card stock).  The finish is a brushed satin/shimmer look but without the sparkle of shimmer paper.  The color and finish remind me of the same on glass Christmas ornaments (not the shiny ones).

I made this card for a stamping friend of mine.

Items used:
  • Create and Craft Satin Board (comes in a package of 30 - click HERE)
    • Bold Colors in blue, red and gold
  • White card stock for the card base
  • Tattered Lace snowy corner die
  • Hot off the Press Paper Artist Dies -Christmas ornament and word
  • Bow - Anna Griffin (from a kit I have)
  • Bo Bunny blue crystals

Here's a look at the corner die cut (sorry for the blurry image).  I added blue gems to the snowflake centers.  I love the distressed look it has.

Here is the ornament.  I cut out the ornament and then glued it onto the red satin board and cut it out.  Then I foam tape mounted it onto my card.

Christmas Gatefold Card

Today's card is a gatefold card (5.5 x5.5).  I glued the front panel on one side only.

Items used:
  • Kaiserkraft patterned paper (Christmas lines this year)
  • Sentiment from Hunkydory
  • Red Glossy card
  • White shimmer card, embossed
  • White card for card base
  • Stickles in two shades of blue and silver
  • Silver Linen card from hot off the Press (gotta love this card stock)
  • Blue Glitter embossing powder (WOW in Nice Ice Blue)
  • (Bow is from a Martha Stewart kit I had)

This is a good picture of the glitter glue I added on to of the pine bough images.  I also added silver glitter glue for snowflakes.

Here is the embossed sentiment.  I love the blue glitter embossing powder.  Click HERE if you want to get it.  (They also have one called Pink Fizz and its just as beautiful.)

JOY!

Items used:
  • Red striped card stock for card base
  • red crinkle ribbon
  • various die cuts from Tim Holtz Christmas ephemera
  • silver glitter paper (Hunkydory)
  • red gems (Bo Bunny)
  • Gold Foil Rub Ons from Tim Holtz
  • Joy - From Kaiserkraft
I don't use rub ons normally because they don't seem to work out for me BUT these gold and silver ones are wonderful!  It kind of fooled me initially because of the white background.  Only the gold or silver is rubbed on though.

Another look:

I decided to make my focal go off the page to the left and trimmed it. I stuck some ephemera undr the right side.

Enjoy!

Season's Greetings! a card

Hi everyone!

I've been working on my Christmas cards (finally).

Items used:
  • white card stock for card base
  • red shimmer paper
  • white translucent vellum with silver sparkles on it
  • Embossing folder from Hot off the Press
  • acetate and gold foiled snowflakes
  • red crystal - Bo Bunny
I found some vellum in my stash that had silver glitter embedded on the vellum (not in it).  I also found some with red and blue so you'll be seeing that too.

I embossed the vellum and used the Sizzix repositionable glue sheet to back my vellum.  I added it to some red shimmer paper.  I had to rub the vellum somewhat to get a consistent color to come through.  I made sure not to rub off the sparkles!

I added two layers of snowflakes and a gem and done!

Two Christmas Cards out of the ordinary

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share two Christmas cards that I made with Hunkydory's new collection call Enchanted Dreams.  They are out of the ordinary for Christmas cards.  I hope you enjoy them.

Christmas Leopard:

The picture doesn't do it justice. The colors are very vibrant red in person with pinks mixed in. One of the mats is also a variegated pink.

This is a close up of the kitty!

These are the layers I made for my card.  The foiled gold layer is embossed.

Christmas Ox:

This card is much ore the deeper rich red of Christmas.

Here is a lose up of the ox.  I love the house on his back.

The layers I used.

Thanks and hope you enjoyed these unusual cards.

A Christmas Rose -card

Yea!  My first Christmas card of the season! Finally!

Items used:
  • Kaiserkraft papers
  • Dazzles (including the gold border)
  • Pretty pink flowers from Michaels (I think)
  • Pink and red shimmer paper

I didn't notice it when I was making the card but if you look closely in the center of th paper you will see Santa (look for red).  Kaiserkraft must have done this -its a single sheet of printed paper from one of their Christmas lines this year.  Its from the 12 x 12 pack.  You get two sheets of 12x12 of this beautiful pink rose.  I found Jesus (no kidding) on the other sheet.

Take care, Lis

A birthday card for my sister

Hi everyone!!  Did you miss me?

I'm hoping that you are enjoying the season!

Today's card is a creation from Hunkydory materials.  It their Enchanted Dreams collection.  I love the red in this.  Its a lot of gold foiling and fantasy and very beautiful.

I wanted to send my sister a lot of cards for her birthday this year.  There's only my two sisters and me and one niece and a nephew left in our family.  It's odd that our line will basically come to an end.  Wow what a thought.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this card.

Congrats! Card

Hi everyone,

I bought some of Tim Holtz silverware embellishments.  They are SO cute!  And I love the detail.  So, now I am trying to find card uses for them!  I know that I can make a Thanksgiving card but I wanted to do something else.  So, I thought - maybe a congratulations card...for opening a restaurant? Getting a culinary degree?

Items used:
  • Idea Ology Silverware
  • Brown card stock for card base
  • Gold Glossy
  • Spellbinders Die
  • Frantic Stamper Sentiment Die
  • Misc paper flowers
  • Idea Ology Gumdrops
  • Goil Foiled Roses cardstock (cant remember from where)
I adhered the silverware with glue dots.  Don't you love the detail?

I really like the frantic Stamper die with the letters' open spaces.

The flowers are from my stash and I added a gumdrop embellishment in the center.

A Thank You Card

Today's card is a matted Thank You card.  What is interesting about it is the color combination of orange and lavender.  I'm not sure that the picture does this card justice.  The card is a beautiful orangy-lavender with accents of green.

Items used:
  • Shades of orange card stock by Bazzill (three shades in all- lightest shade was used for the card base)
  • Lavender shimmer card stock
  • Patterned paper from Bo Bunny
  • Green Ribbon
  • Word and thin line Dazzles in gold by Hot off the Press
Here is a good picture of the matting I did.

Each mat has a different width to add interest.  This was easy to accomplish with no measuring by using Perfect Layers (Click HERE).  This is not a sales pitch.  I really love these rulers.  I don't do any measuring and can mat perfectly every time.  If you do a lot of mats, you might want to look into them.

Postcard Happy Birthday

Items used:
  • red card stock for card base
  • patterned floral paper from Hobby Lobby
  • Jewels from Michaels
  • Sentiment from Hunky Dory
  • Red Ribbon
  • Silver glossy
  • Postcard is from a 12 x 12 scrapbook paper that was all postcards.  I think it was Graphic 45
This is another card that was partly made from my stash.  I was cleaning last night trying to get my pile of paper scraps down to  manageable size before they all tumbled to the floor. I found several partly made cards that I hadn't finished.  So, you;; be seeing some of these throughout the month of November.

I had cut the postcard from a piece of 12 x 12 card stock and outlined part of it with bling on a roll.  I tore the other art then layered it onto silver glossy and tore the silver to match the matting.

For my card base I decided on red.  This card was going to be for Valentines last year!  But I made it into a birthday card.  I used a deep purple, green and pink floral pattern to mat the thing ontomy red card base.

I attached a sentiment with mounting tape.
