Hello Card with Fringe

Today's card is a simple card using some torn paper and a fringed ribbon.  I used:
  • a pumpkin-coloered card base and a lighter mat
  • distress ink to edge my torn paper(purple! I'm not sure THAT worked out! LOL)
  • gold mirrorcard as the accent
  • black letters so that it would show up

I really like the fringe. It makes the ribbon much more interesting.

Hope you enjoyed my card today - Come again!

Coloring Embossed Patterned Paper

I was sitting looking at some paper I bought.  It had this very pretty resist embossed design on kraft.  Unfortunately it looked flat.  So, I took my distress markers and started coloring.

Below on the right was the card I started with.  On the left is the same card, colored.  Pretty cool, huh?
I colored over the lines (the embossed parts will resist the color) & I used a paper towel to BLOT up the excess ink.  This left the kraft paper colored. (Not a new technique I know, but nice to see again).

The kraft paper muted the colors I was using so I needed to use darker colors to get them to show up. I used my darkest colors (blues) on one of the center designs as my focal point.

So, pull out some of your embossed papers and try a little coloring.

Friend Card

Hi everyone!  I haven't used my film strip ribbon in a while so I pulled it out.  I looked through the letter stickers I have and found some that fit!  Here are the steps for this card:
  1. Cut a smaller piece of cardstock using the three staggered 1.25 inch precision die (Frantic Stamper)
  2. Color the edges and inside the square cuts with Peacock Feather Distress ink
  3. Stamp a butterfly (also from Frantic Stampers own Line) in Peacock Feathers
  4. Overlay the cut out portion onto patterned paper so that a corner pattern shows through
  5. Attach overlay with mounting tape
  6. Add film strip ribbon with "Friend" (or whatever word you want) on the right
  7. Attach with Tiny Attacher (Tim Holtz)
  8. Add flowers and gems

Close Up!

I like the way the white rose shows through, paired with the blue silk flower and gem center.

Sea, a Precision Die Card

Hi everyone!  I bought some sea-themed paper and stickers from K & Company. I'm still making cards from it!  The one below I really like (yes, I know that particular shell doesn't produce pearls but I thought it would look pretty anyway).  I got the puffy letters in a sale bin at Big Lots.  You never know what you're going to find!

Close Up!

I used one long rectangle die and cut an opening. I backed it with gold mirror card.
