Sunflower Card

I thought I would share this card with you. It is not Christmas (thought you would need a break...LOL).

The card base is ivory and the embossed mat is canyon brown cover by Neenah (Kelly Paper).  This is actually 2 sunflowers. The top one is attached using mounting tape.

The center of my flower:
1. I cut out the center from the 2nd flower.
2. I painted it with thick glue.
3. I adhered gold micro beads, let it dry and then attached to the center of my flower.

Close Up!

The sunflower image came from a computer image that I printed and cut out. I printed and cut two flowers, layering one on top of the other. Before layering:
1. I took a Versamark pen and gold embossed all the petals.
2. I used different colors of embossing powder on the various petals of the second flower, "coloring" it.
The colors I used were lapis blue, silver, pale gold and Worn Lipstick (distress EP).

These leaves are from a package of leaves I've had hanging around for quite a while.  They have wire stems which is nice. it makes it easy to mold them.

I hope that you enjoyed the card!

Christmas Cards - Christmas Bell

Hi everyone! Welcome to my Christmas Card season!  I look forward to each Christmas season when I get to make Christmas cards!  I love making and sending them to my loved ones.  I hope that these cards bring you inspiration to try a few of your own!

Today's card is called Christmas Bell and is made with Bo Bunny Papers from their 2011 Father Christmas line.

I really love this bell.  It looks so three-dimensional.  I added a jewel over the clapper and some pearls.  A pretty dark green bow and done.

The card base is red and the mat is a rich brown.

Close Up!

This is a close up of one of the K & Company stickers I am using with my cards this year.

I added white pearls over top of the berries.  I thought this gave a nice 3-d touch to my card.

Thanks for stopping by. Come back again for more Christmas Cards!

Yes, all the rumors are TRUE!  Everyone in hollywood is just SO excited because, after all, this is what made Miss Luv famous!  The title of the new film de jour is "Make a Space for the Lovenator".  Of course, dear readers, I would be remiss if I didnt get you all a sneak peek!  I just happen to have gotten a page from the script<gasp heard in the background>!!  Yes,, you read it here first!

"John…!”

“Marsha”

“Oh John…”

“Marsha!!”

“John…?”

“Hey! What’s this cat doing here?!”

<Gasp!!> " It’s the Lovenator!!"
(serious organ music in the background from One Life to Live)

Christmas Cards - Wreath Card

Hi everyone!  I spent a rainy day today staying home and making Christmas cards!  What fun!  I have my TV set to the station that plays the Christmas songs.  All I need is a tree and some lights!

Today's card has a wreath on it.

The papers that I used are from Bo Bunny 2011 release called Father Christmas.  These papers are really nice with deep, rich colors and old fashioned style.  I took this picture with a flash.

I took this picture without a flash.  I'm not sure which one shows the beautiful colors of the card better.  I'm not a camera person and this stuff just drives me crazy!

Close Up!
Here is the wreath close up.  These come in a package like the chenille pipe cleaners do.  These are called "Wired Pine" and are 12 inches long each. There are 12 to a package.  The company label is called Christmas House.  Unfortunately I can't remember where I got them from.  I think it was Michaels.  I cut about 4 inches from one stem and formed it into a circle.  I twisted the ends together and added some gems and glued it under my bow.  Very easy and looks good.

I have this close up because I wanted to show you the layering that I did. The front panel is slightly larger that the 5 1/4 x 4 mat.  The green mat panel is about 1/8 inch larger than that.  The right side edges blend in nicely.

I bought a bunch of the K & Company Christmas 3-d stickers this year.  They are gorgeous.  I added the clear gems below.

Christmas Cards - Glittered Holly Card

Hi everyone and Happy Day After Thanksgiving!  I hope you all ate well and survived the crush of shoppers on Black Friday today!  As for me, I had to work today (and yesterday) but I don't mind.  It is an honor to work in healthcare.

Today's card is called Glittered Holly.

I wanted to make some simple cards with a classic feel this year.  I am really having fun with my Canyon Brown cardstock (aka "cover').  The color is really rich.  I embossed it will a holly pattern and matted it to some green cardstock and a red card base.

(As you can see, I am still working on my flash!)

Close Up!

Here is the close up of the punched window and Tim's Holly Movers and Shapers die cut.  I added the button (also a Tim special) instead of the traditional red berries.  I almost used a pearl heart bead which I think would also have looked good. Hey!  It would be very cool for Valentine's Day!

I thought that the lower right needed some balance in the upper left of my card.  I took some red and green glitter glue and highlighted part of the embossed pattern.  I almost went and did the whole card.  But I really like the accent as it is.

I hope you liked this simple but elegant card.  I hope it inspires you to make one of your own!

Christmas Cards - Hanging Ornaments from the Tree

Today I have another Christmas card using the pine bough pipe cleaner.  I think it turned out pretty good.

Close Up!

I had been eyeing the EK Success ornament punch and wanted to use them in my cards this year.  They are really pretty.  I punched them out of regular patterned papers and decorated these with jewels.  The first punch didn't go so well but the I got the hang of it.  The trick is to make sure that you hear a second click.  Then the design will be completely cut from the paper.

I cut some one way and some the other to add variety.

I added this cute little tassel at the end.

Hope you liked my card! Come back for more Christmas cards!

Christmas Cards - Sticker Cards

I always have some stickers for Christmas but I don't normally use them in my cards. I thought it would be a nice change to try these out!

First is Blessings.  This card has non traditional colors but I love the way the pink worked out.  You can't really see it but the solid pink is actually pink glitter cardstock.  The bow is pink organza.

My second card is Rejoice.  I used a panel to anchor the stickers.  (Have you ever noticed that sometimes when you add a sticker it seems to be floating and not really attached to anything in your design?)
Below are three stickers.

Hope these cards give you some ideas!

Christmas Cards - Christmas Greetings

Hi everyone!  Today's card is called Christmas Greetings and has a pear design in it.

I am working with a lot of brown colors lately. Maybe it's the richness of the color, maybe it's fall...but it's fabulous!

I love the way the red satin ribbon pops!

Close Up!

I punched this little tag from the Bo Bunny papers I got from http://www.franticstamper.com/.  You should check them out. They are rich, old fashioned, deep colors that remind me of Christmases past.

I used a Sizzix embossing folder on brown cardstock.  This is the only one I know of that goes 5 1/4 inches across.  Also this folder design goes to the edge.  Very nice!.

You also might be wondering where I got this brown cardstock from .  None other than Kelly Paper.  It is made by Neenah and is called Canyon Brown.  It is a lot richer brown in person than in this picture.  Heavy cardstock there is also called "cover".

Yesterday's card featured punched out pear shapes in glittered cardstock.  Today's card uses the negative of those punches.

Hope you enjoyed today's card!  Come back next week for more Christmas cards 2011!

Christmas Cards - Believe

Hi and welcome to my blog!  Remember that you can sign up to follow my blog and never miss a post!  I post almost every weekend and usually 1-2 cards.

Right now I am in the middle of my holiday cards for Christmas! Yeah!  I love this time of year. The papers are so beautiful this year.  Have you checked out Bo Bunny yet? Wow!

This weekend's cards feature pear shapes.  I think I am in a pear phase because I really like to use the shape (don't like to eat them too much though).

Today's card is entitled "Believe".

I punched all my pears out of glitter cardstock in green and one in gold.  I used burgundy ribbon for my bow.  My background paper comes from the Remembrance Collection at Michaels.  I really liked the sleigh.  This card needed some dark background paper to show off the glitter pears.

Close Up!

Martha Stewart has this tiny little tag punch that works perfectly for my little card.  I took some patterned paper and punched out the tag with a bit of the design in it.  Then I stamped the word believe in black.  Easy and done!

This is a close up of one of my pear punch outs.  Fiskars came out with a pear punch that has a very pleasing shape to it.  You can also cut off the leaf and have a shape to use for a Russian doll or a snowman!
Hope you enjoyed today's card.  Come back tomorrow for another pear themed Christmas Card!

Jingle Cat

Hi and welcome back to this season's first Christmas cards (well, my first Christmas cards...LOL!).

Today's card features something a little different...Angel playing cards!

I love to use playing cards in my greeting cards and scrapbooking.  There are some really neat kinds where the pictures on the cards are all different. It's like getting 52 different paintings!  This deck is called Christmas Angels and I bought it from SkyBluePink.  The backs of all the cards feature the bell and holly. BUT the fronts feature different Christmas scenes.  The kitten below is just one.  As you can see I cut out the part that shows the suits (although I could have kept this one because it was hearts).

I know that the color of the mat paper now looks dark purple but its actually not the camera this time.  Its actually the paper turning color as I move the card.  It is a line of paper called Iridescent from a company called Graphic Products Corp.  They have a beautiful line of scrapbooking papers.  Here is the link if you are curious.  http://www.gpcpapers.com/showproducts.cfm?categoryid=166  Check out the Florentine papers also. They will knock your socks off.  All of the scrapbooking papers are acid free.  (GPC also has many handmade papers.)  If you like paper, these are to die for.

Close Up!

Don't you just love this little Jingle Bell punch? (Fiskars)

I took some jewels and made this arrangement.

I love this little kitten.
Thanks for stopping by. Come back again for more Christmas cards!

SNOW - A Christmas Card

Hi everyone and welcome to November!  Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away and Christmas is only 3 weeks after that! Yikes!

Today's card is called SNOW.  I have been dying to share this card with you. I love it.  I think it's just so pretty!

I really like the way the patterned paper and the gold doily come together in this card.

Close Up!

I used white glitter chipboard letters to spell out SNOW.  It contrasts nicely with the ivory background. Ordinarily I wouldnt mix white and ivory but this works well.  The red and gold ribbon is Christmas ribbon from Michaels.

The gold paper you see here is from a gold doily.  I cut my snowflake patterned paper first and then glued on a gold doily and trimmed it.

I hope this inspires you to make your own Christmas Snow card!  Come back again for more Christmas cards!

Collage Circus Birthday Card

Hi everyone and welcome to the weekend and the start of the Holiday Season!  The year is flying by and I am working on Christmas and Thanksgiving cards which I hope to start sharing with you next weekend!  So stay tuned!

Today's card is one I created for my sister.  It's her birthday this month.  She doesn't look at my blog so I am safe sharing this card with you!

The background paper is from Penny Black. If you follow my blog you know that I've mentioned her papers quite a few times.  She doesn't have very many but there are four in particular that she makes that are out of this world.  They are all foiled and come in either white/gold or brown/gold (as you see below).  The choices are music (like below), mini flowers or damask.  And all are wonderful.  I will be using a lot of the white music for my Christmas cards this year.

The center paper is from Graphic 45 (of course! How did we ever live before they came along!)  I believe it is from the Circus collection.

Close Up Close Up!!

To make the tickets more realistic, I took a small hole punch and punched half circles at each end of the tickets.

I love using jewels and pearls (who doesn't?).  I put in one red heart to symbolize the love I have for my sister.

I used bright purple and pink ribbons for this card.

I have a point and shoot camera (not a fancy one with all kinds of lenses).  I wanted to try a "fancy" shot.  How did I do?

Well I hope you liked my card!  Come back next weekend for the start of my Christmas cards!
